With the new PL tv deal kicking in from next summer the agents will be a massive issue for all PL clubs not just ours - hopefully. Elmo has a right so and so as his new agent. However, I fully expect this to be a non issue in jan at least, just like the last window when many on here thought we would have a bigger mass exodus than came to pass. Of all the players that have gone since May, I only miss Rosie - Chester now.
Yes exactly, plenty of reasons for him not to sign, none for us not to offer them in the first place.
Again, plenty of reasons why the players would turn down contracts, not so many for why we haven't offered them deals. Especially since I'm skeptical that guys like Davies or Meyler would have a bunch of PL clubs interested. We let McShane, Rosenior and Quinn's deals run down and they're playing at C'ship clubs.
I agree that most of our players would be in the market for relegation threatened Premier League clubs and promotion chasing Championship clubs. That's what we have been for the last few years.
I just find it crazy that I was told on here that offering deals a year out was simply not done, and now people are happy to rationalise why we're not offering deals at all. Why not just except that the way we manage our roster is hideously out of touch with the way well run clubs do it?
Which well run clubs are you talking about? The ones who are reasonably safe in the Premier League? I doubt you will find clubs near the bottom of the Premier League or near the top of the Championship offering deals to their players around now.
I've already provided links to articles showing sides like Sunderland, Villa, Palace, etc. sign players in summer as they enter their final year.
On the original thread discussing the lack of contracts. Can't be bothered doing it all again. Huddlestone has come out publically and basically criticised the club for the way they handle re-signing players, this isn't just me.
Searching for the same articles again. I honestly can't remember the name of it, or else I'd dig it up and link you. If you want to believe that no clubs re-sign players before their contracts expire except for the top 10 in the PL then go for your life.
I never said that. I specifically referred to "around now" which is a lot different to you making out that I believe clubs outside the top 10 of the PL don't resign players before their contracts expire. You seem to be pretending I said something I clearly didn't say.
Only because you're seemingly arguing with me despite me referencing my criticism that we didn't re-sign anyone over summer.
I've pointed out how you misrepresented what I said and you seem to agree that that's the case. How have I misrepresented you?
I think you've confused yourself. I made the point that the fact we aren't re-signing people now, given a lack of re-signings over summer is ridiculous. You're seemingly debating the former, and ignoring my point about the latter as a condition for why we should be re-signing them now.
I don't see why it matters what we did or didn't do in the past when we have to make a decision as to what we do now.
