I went on a pre-season tour there with my veterans team a few years back, we went to a club on the Saturday night and I swear it was 1986 inside.

I made us up a load of polo shirts with 'North Cave Vets' embroidered on them and some woman stopped us on the seafront and asked if we'd mind having a look at her dog as she was sure it was coming down with something. <laugh>

Did you? Look at the dog that is??

1986 is quite an improvement tbh, always felt like I imagined the 60s to be when we went!

The Oregon Coast. This was sunset @ Rockaway Beach, Christmas 2012.

There are many other places that I have been lucky enough to visit. The Dales and Skye are two other favourites. I guess the less people, the more I like it.

Places I have liked the least include Los Angeles, Las Vegas.

With that info it could well have been 1986 on the outside of the club too.

I've got an old FE college mate, a photographer from Bilton Grange, lives in Cromer. Went out 'on the town' with him and his wife. He was doing a project with the remaining fishermen (shore-launched boats) and we all ended up in a pub in the old town. Some of the guys were like the old boys who used to go out from Brid and North Landing. Flat caps and Gansey jerseys.

    Didn't really experience the town.

But anyway, you should explore the coast between Hunston and Cromer....

I had a 3 week holiday driving from Seattle down to LA and went along the coast all the way down, was probably the best holiday I have had.

Did you go to San Simeon? It was the house of William Randolph Hearst (used as character in Citizen Kane).

    Weird place.

Been going to Cromer for the last five years - it's a **** to get to from where I live (A18, 15, 17, 148) but well worth it; it's an old fashioned seaside where I can get good grub and beer. Was warned that The Albion can get a bit lively, it's become my local away from home - full of fishermen and good banter. Top chef Galton Blackiston has opened a nice, reasonably priced, restaurant on the sea-front, there's good Italian fare at The Red Lion, a Chinese, an Indian and one of the best Thai restaurants I've ever eaten in. You can get Cromer crab salad sandwiches for lunch at half a dozen or more places, drive 10 mile down the coast to salthouse and you have the tastiest, freshest, cheapest seafood you'll ever eat at the legendary Cookies.

I'm afraid riding round country lanes, even the brilliant A149, isn't one of the things on my wifes bucket list.

Ah and I assume the old "You take the car, I'll see you when you get there" routine won't wash with her?
