You would have been able to, ABP offered to build a pontoon road down to the point, my son works there in the tower, it was turned down as the 'twitchers' said that the construction would disturb the wildlife. My son now has to drive to Grimsby and get a launch across to the tower. ****ing crazy.

I'd like to go on a full Scottish island hopping trip. Planning on visiting Islay again, and Jura next year. Colonsay also sounds worthwhile just based on how difficult it is to get to.

Fig Tree Bay beach in Protaras was nice this year, very clean and beautiful crystal clear water.

We actually looked at the prospect of retiring there but among other things there was a huge problem with health insurance which you HAVE to have there. We visited 10 times in all and just loved the place, the people, the shopping, the food, the weather and the attractions. Pearl Harbour was very moving when we stood above the sunken US Arizona and on that occasion there was a contingent from Japan which included some of the pilots from the infamous attack. On a TV documentary we saw later the US Servicemen and the Japanese Pilots got together and I was amazed at the way the Americans and Japanese sort of warmed to each other and accepted that each had a job to do and that there should never be another conflict.

Don't know if you know but the ship which later renamed as the General Belgrano was known as the luckiest ship in the navy as it was the only one undamaged in the Pearl,Harbour attack.

Antigua... For my daughters wedding, I'd been there when I was 18,
Loved the place and when my daughter wanted somewhere
To get married I told her how beautiful the island and people
Are, we saw England play whilst we were there,
Sat on the beach, smoking a Cuban Havana 40 minute cigar,
Drinking a large glass of 50% Jamaican rum and coke,
Watching the sun slowly sink into the Caribbean sea..
Priceless !!! For everything else there's master card....
But my favourite place in the world was
Madeira, I went shark fishing on a tiny fishing boat, my mate
Who went with me was sick as a pig, my worse place in the
World is my ****ing house at the moment, my wife's going ballistic
Over some sewing she's doing and taking it out on me.
My daughter and wife run a baby boutique wear business..
She makes beautiful things but has zero patience .....

Stop giving her the needle then ffs you daft sew-and-sew!

I don't really have a fave place. Losts of places I've been I have fond memories of.

Love seeing the Umber Bridge as I approach it. Love York. Love Cornwall. And Devon. And Portland. And Southern Germany. Puglia in Italy. California around Thousand Oaks. Bits of the Falklands. S Georgia. Love Sunny Hunny, and Cromer. Meh loads of places really.

Even bits of Scotland. Not so much the ****ing locals mind, but the country, out in the sticks, is nice.

Visiting Cromer is not just like visiting a place, it's like entering a different decade.

Yeah course. Hours drive for us. Either the old lighthouse end for a day on the beach in the past with the kids when they were kids, or now with the grand daughter. If you want a bit of good sand, some water (when the tides not out 5 miles), it's fab. Quite like the town too tbh, lovely fish and chip place there.

Wifes got an old school mate who lives in Cromer, so spent time there a fair bit too.

No arguments there. Not been for a couple of years but rockabilly was still a big thing there. And huge yank cars. Good little boozers if you know the locals mind.

I loved Russia also, St.Petersberg, was on a ship there
Just before the Moscow Olympics, you could buy these
Badges, of all the different events, I on the other hand
was only interested in shagging this Russia bird called
Yana, her nickname was the White horse due to the
Long almost white hair she had...she took me and
Another crew member who's name I carnt remember
To a party, bloody miles away... What a ****ing night !!!
