Best mates mate. It is enlightening though that you didn't think Vardy was good enough to make the starting line up only a couple of months ago. Why was that when you'd seen him play so much and were so certain of his qualities? Edit: given that I made the initial post and you have been following me around ever since it's more like you're stalking me! You need to give your stalking agent (Luv) his commission.
Cheers - the 19th is looking a banker - they got a last minute equaliser against us there last season when we really were carp ... we had Konchesky and Upson playing for us then ... we are so much better now
... whoosh ... as I've already posted - he struggled to get to grips with the league (until the run at the end of last season when he did start to show glimpses) - Andrei Kramaric had been signed for a club record and had produced some excellent finishes (and all round play - he is a fine technical player) - I had hoped to see him paired with Ulloa as a striking partnership at the start of the season against Sunderland ... Instead Ranieri played neither - opting for a smaller, more mobile combination of Okazaki and Vardy and a strategy of blitz defence and attack - it worked a treat - and I was more than happy, indeed delighted, to admit that Ranieri had got it spot on ... Vardy has not looked back since - and it has become apparent that it is a facet of his character that he might struggle initially when facing a new challenge but deep down does have the necessary strength of character, self-belief and indeed skill to overcome that - and once he is in his pomp he is something else - as he is proving ... so have my views changed? - yes - I'd like to think that is down to me being open minded ... try it - you might like it ... For me Vardy now faces exactly that same challenge when playing for England ... once he stops being in awe of the situation and those around him - he is capable of doing what he is currently doing in the Prem - i.e being no respecter of reputations and just going for it ...
So in summary you didn't rate him highly enough to warrant a starting place at the beginning of the season but now that he's gone through a purple patch you think he is a top player. However your current opinion is based on having seen him play loads of times over the past 4 seasons and not his most recent run of games (although you admit that your view has changed so I guess the purple patch has influenced it, hmmm). Maybe you always thought he was a top player, just not good enough to get into the Leicester starting XI. Very consistent.
Funny how most of your posts are questions and wanting to pin people down without giving out too much yourself - why's that?
Close - I've watched his development over the time he has been with us and he has continually improved but I could not possibly have predicted how good he has now become ... rather than being a purple patch I see where he now is as having found his mojo - despite my preference pre first game for a starting combination of Ulloa and Kramaric I wasn't dismissing Vardy - I'd have brought him on later in the game when Sunderland's defence was tiring - but he has shown that he doesn't need that advantage - he keeps the same relentless pace going for 90 minutes+ and the opposition, so far this season, including Arsenal, just haven't been able to handle it ... ... barring injury there is no reason currently to think that he won't keep that level of perormance up, even if the goal scoring is less prolific - and as such I think he is currently unplayable rather than just 'bang average' and having a 'purple patch' - now given that this is the 'Pool board and that they have been most hospitable on a subject matter not realted to their club, I'm going to make this my last post on the subject.
Great post asking a question about why I ask questions. I've made my view perfectly clear. He's a decent player going through a purple patch. I was told I was wrong because I hadn't seen enough of the player. The poster who delivered the sermon didn't think the player was good enough for Leicester's starting XI before he went through his purple patch but also insists that his current view of the player is not clouded by the purple patch. He always rated him highly, just not good enough to play for his team!
