Don't worry, I've asked him to clarify how many times you need to have seen a player before you're able to have a valid, balanced opinion. There's clearly a magic number that only the truly visionary are aware of.
By the way, guess who posted the following at the start of the season... "Think this is a cracking line up ... only change I'd make would be Kramaric for Vardy ..." Not that he's since got over excited after a few good games!
A sensible post and one that I can find nothing to disagree with ... Don't bother going back nd readin the exchanges ... you'll be no wiser as to how many times Stan has watched Vardy ... his latest missive suggests that he watched Vards in the Championship and that has shaped his view ... and justifies his opinion that Vardy is 'bang average' but going through a 'purple patch' right now ... not surprisingly I find his comments somewhat blinkered and over simplistic ... it doesn't allow for acclimatisation and / or development in a player ... once bang average always bang average ... just like Pogba and De Bruyen ... (pause whilst waiting for Stan to come back suggesting I'm now comparing Vardy with those two as players rather than appreciating the principle itself ) .. Vardy has had an incredible journey in a relatively short time in footballing terms (from joining us to where he is now) - his scoring exploits in the lower leagues earned him a contract with us on 'potential' ... initially his confidence suffered a bit as he came to terms with the gulf in quality but subsequently he overcame that and had a terrific second season in the Championship ... he was similarly effected by the jump to premiership level ... but again worked hard to adapt and is now reaping the rewards for endeavour, attitude, self belief but also striking qualities .. the latter he has exhibited throughout his footballing career ... I'm hoping that it will be the same story with England but have doubts that Woy will ever play him in his correct position or shape the team in a way that would enable him t play his A game ... (i'm expecting 'more of the same' in France and us going out of the competition with a whimper .. As I've posted elsewhere - start of the season I'd have had him as our 3rd choice striker behind Kramaric and Ulloa ... but he has not only taken his chance, he has now made himself undroppable ... and having seen every game this season I am now of the view that he is a unique talent ... certainly not 'bang average' by any stretch of the imagination - still lot's to improve on (first touch isn't always good) - but incredibly exciting to watch ... you know he will make things happen and you know he will be looking for every goal scoring opportunity, even if that means collecting the ball in his own half and bombing towards the opposition's net ... ... and as a Leicester City supporter of long standing I have seen more than my fair share of 'bang average' players ... believe me!
He is bang average though I can't stand people calling players average btw, its the latest over used incorrect description. The average would surely have to take into account every professional player in the game, in doing so, every player in the PL would be above average by default Woy is a joke. This isn't a biased Liverpool fans view, this is a anti-negative football fans view. I'd not watched England for about two years because it bores the **** out of me, but I decided to watch the last match. **** me it was dull. He still doesn't seem to have a clue as to how to use the players we have. IMO, we don't have any stand out quality world class players but we have a very competitive squad (ie, all players are good players of a similar quality). We also have some very good attacking players so why not utilise them and play to our strengths?
Was Jagielka actually simulating 'slowmo' as he chased Rooney or has Wayne been raiding the Haribos ?
