I don't know why but I always think we need a decent away crowd to get the home fans going, Saturday with second placed Birmingham arriving should be a much better atmosphere and hopefully a very good game with a win of course. Last night the two blokes in front of me were moaning about the atmosphere but they never said a loud word all night, they probably come on here moaning about the atmosphere at games well if so its simple stop moaning start doing something about it
The only flares you are likely to see in West Upper are if someone is going straight to a 70s revival night after the game.
I couldn't be bothered to troll through this whole thread so its quite likely that this has been posted before. But I'm sure that a major reason why we are getting our lowest crowds in years, and far lower than in our other relegation from the Prem seasons, is the mindnumbing defensive brand of football and stultifying tactics that Bruce has instilled in what is in my opinion arguably the strongest squad we have ever had. Yesterdays 3 goal extravaganza was only the third time in scores of games (62?) that we have scored over two goals. Most of these I believe have been 1 goal draws or losses. I have been a faithful supporter since i was less than 10 years old in the 1940s. Watching Hull City was the MOST exciting thing in my life. Nowadays I can barely bother to turn on Tiger Player to listen to that clown Swann drone on about everything but football and Burnses monotone describing the tedium occurring on the field. Its enough to send even the most rabid supporter to sleep! The reason why crowds are dwindling is that BRUCE has close to the best group of players in our history PLAYING CRAP BORING FOOTBALL!! Even the first half against Ipswich was, as several on here commented at the time, about as bad as they've ever seen. The fans will turn up if they can expect an interesting brand of ATTACKING football. The players are fully capable of it. But it has become all too bloody predictable every week. I really feel for those who are paying the current high prices to watch this crap. BRUCE OUT!!
Why not erase the name of 'Hull City' from everything connected to the club? Not only would that galvenise support on the terraces, having the club known as 'Tigers' would bring us untold riches and new sponsorship deals. Also wiping out all traces of the mouthful that is boring old 'Hull City' would add tremendously to the match day experience as would forcibly moving fans from sections of the stadium they themselves had chosen to purchase tickets ( seats) for. Whilst at it increasing the cost of admission, especially after a relegation season and making it difficult to actually pay at the turnstile on the day of a game will surely have fans flocking to the KC Stadium to see the 'Tigers' ?
Worse then that. Four people sat in front of me never even clapped when our second goal went in. They just sat there, unmoved, in silence. And these are pass holders,
I hope so too LBA but I'm not holding my breath. A sudden conversion of Bruce to fast attacking football would be even more of a surprise than Saul's conversion on the road to Damascus. If it does happen, and we move into second place with a convincing fast-paced two or three goal win I may begin to believe that he has finally seen the light and we can look forward to the rest of a season capped with another promotion.
Exactly this ^^^^^^^ - I went to my first game of the season last night, I have been a season ticket holder for 20 years but refused to hand over any more money to the Allams and never renewed by pass in N3 this season. I only went last night because it was a mates birthday I don't get to see very often. He sits in the East Stand and I wanted to get him a birthday drink and have a catch up so begrudginly paid cash to get a ticket near him. The standard of football from both teams was poor, Ipswich were shocking, not sure whether it was the new lights, but they couldn't string a pass together. The atmosphere was non existent, it looks like the mass exodus from the North Stand in protest is holding firm. Fair play to ones still there, but even though we won three nil, it still wasn't entertaining, it was slow, predictable at times, and really hard work, when it really, really shouldn't have been. I honestly thought we should have got 5,6,7 or 8 last night. Had that of been Brighton or Reading, I would guess they would have gone to town on them. All I can say is if that was the best performance of the season, you poor buggers that have been to every match must have seen some ****, and my respect goes out to you for sticking with it. You deserve so much more given the high price you are paying. And WTF has happened to the hot dogs, I went straight from work so was starvin Marvin, they appear to have reduced the length by half, and put the price up 50p, and declined to apply any heat to the product, and not one of the ****ing tomato sauces had anymore than a squirt of sauce in, I've had wetter farts than what came out the bottle. All in all, it was a most dissapointing evening, result aside, could be summed up as FLAT and BORING. (I'll get it in before the knockers, yes I'm fat and boring, touche).
Ticket prices are ****ing stupid No offers No free tickets to local schools No attempt to attract the next generation of supporters Our coach passed a couple of buses on the way down anlaby road after the game The buses were full of city fans....it could have been two buses on an old folks outing there was no young fans on them. Filling seats at the kc is more important then the name change to me. So many empty seats and so many who would fill them IF they could afford to go. Those running the club are ****ing insane NOT to try and get more fans inside the stadium. They dont even bloody try. If the juniors didnt have a pass it would cost the same to buy a ticket v boro As it cost to buy tickets to Forest ...sheff wed...and mk dons added together. Hull City....run by lunatics who couldnt give a **** about fans.
I pretty well agree with what you say Roger, especially the Tiger Player commentary. I switched to BeinSports and although the picture quality is pretty poor at times (I live in a very non-receptive area) it is far better at $20 a month even though there are only a few of our games. I too would love to see Steve Bruce employ the old style 'fast attacking football' but unfortunately we need 'fast attacking footballer's' to do that and we ain't got none! The old adage has never been more truer 'goals put bums on seats' but few teams can play attacking football these days preferring that boring possession style cr@p that sends you to sleep. My sons, grandsons and great grandsons follow City every game and they will continue to regardless of where we are in the league or how we play - I guess it's in the blood from our rainy days at the old Boothferry Park. The only way to beat this boring ****e is with players who have the talent to dribble the ball, take on their marker and leave them in their wake as they head towards goal as a scorer or a supplier. Not many of them around and those who can are classed as 'superstars' these days and are way out of our pocket.
Laurie that sounds like a fella called Andre Gray who we apparently were unwilling to cough up an extra 500k for and is now banging them in at Burnley. Lets hope we got a bargain in Diomande at a third of the price, and that he will add some aggression and excitement to our play.
The last time we played Ipswich following relegation from the top flight (2011-12 season)... Hull City v Ipswich March 10th 2012 Saturday 17,625. I was going to compare the other attendances, but none of the other clubs we've played so far were in the Championship in the 2011-12 season. The lowest attendance we had that season was 16,604 for a midweek night match against Barnsley.
I don't think it was really down to our reluctance to cough up an extra £500k, we just missed out while trying to shift our existing highly paid strikers..
Comparing two games Has asked to be on the transfer list though... A scoring CF who wants out the club is probably not a long term solution. This situation could change if promotion is achieved though, I'm guessing. ESSEX GULL
