I think as a club we are in the position our size, management, ownership warrants....yes our squad under the right manager would/should be doing better but this situation is due to,imho, four years or poor decisions made by the clubs owners and lessons obviously not learnt from!
If you look at the table, one could be forgiven for thinking were travelling ok but if you scratch the surface a little, bigger issues are at large. Regardless of who the is manager, a Director of Football, a senior adviser, not to mention a owner meddling and an underperforming manager does not auger well for our club. Too many cooks in the kitchen. Someone is going to get burnt. Apart from that, the sun is shining brightly.
I might be in the minority, but I agree with you factamondo. As a club I believe that we are a lower Premier/ Higher Championship level when we are at our best. At present the club & the players are not at our best. Mid table is what our current asperations should be. The PLAYERS as well as the club & team management can be rated no higher than that! Our so called Premier quality players would be playing at that level if other clubs had thought that they were of that ability excepting Austin,His decision to stay at Rangers was based solely on what was best for himself ( no criticsm from me in that). I am not trying to defend Ramsay (or attack him), but our current level is due to the leadership of Tony Fernandes & especially his inability to set a policy that he will then keep to! Our major problems are in the boardroom rather than on the pitch. Last night I thought we played better in the first 30 minutes than I had seen this season. As a spectacle it would have been better if the final whistle had then been blown!
Regardless of a team's performances, there is a hierarchy in football which is largely in line with the size of it's gates. On that score we have been punching above our weight for years, but that has not been through good management but profligate spending. Rich owners have given much higher levels of expectation of success when, in reality, we are now much nearer our natural position in the pecking order. Without a new stadium and a coherent and properly managed future plan we will continue to be also-rans in the bigger picture...
Our tribe has rich and long-standing history. Long time ago, our tribe wander the wilderness. For many years, we wander looking for land to call our own. Our chief led our people through mountains, valleys, seashores and plains. People were born wandering. People died wandering. After an entire generation of wanderers were born and died, our chief, then very old, led us to top of great mountain. He stood atop mountain summit and faced his people. He looked around. He looked far and wide. He then shouted to the gods, "We're the Fukawi! We're the Fukawi! WHERE THE FÙCK ARE WE?!"
Perhaps Yogi was too? Ramsey could take a few quotes from his play book to help explain our situation. "You wouldn't have won if we'd beaten you." "The other teams could make trouble for us if they win." "If you don't know where you are going, you might wind up someplace else." "You can observe a lot by watching." "If the world were perfect, it wouldn't be." "I never said most of the things I said." If the team is so good why do they play so **** They know their positions and the job they are supposed to be doing Where is their own self respect
Lower Prem,Higher Championship??..No way!. A lot of our players are pants!. We have one or two at that level but the rest are very average and simply do not have the speed or skill set to compete at a higher level.
