Tbf, I think the blogger has pointed out in stark highlight all the little things that were slightly wrong with the Fans Forum. Hindsight, and if only, can be a damaging thing as much as a learning one. The truth is it could have been longer, much longer, but that's down to Radio Solent just as much as anything else. The criticism falls away if the programme had had a greater time window. Two hours would not have been overlong. Then people could have got over the feeling of isn't our football club wonderful and it's great to be here and possibly asked some more searching questions. But there will be another fans forum, the novelty of the 6 year absence will wear off and better questions will be asked. Perhaps two a season.? Blimey, it's not as if we need Radio Solent to front it anyway.
http://www.shoot.co.uk/southampton-fans-forum-a-missed-opportunity/ Located what you are talking about from Shoot. As said, I think the main problem is that one hour is not enough....some of the questions he suggested would have been interesting, but it wasn't a case of barring them...just not enough time. What could be asked about a secretive Katharina....she comes to matches, looks happy and puts her hands in her pockets. We have been told again and again that she is happy to own Saints. I just don't see what the people on the panel could say about her. Be different if she was there. The problem with pre-selected questions is who selects them...the panel? Better to catch them out with unexpected questions if someone had a real concern. Wonder what DTLW would have written if he still worked for Shoot.
Mowgli provided a link.! Its probably a Saints Web poster who writes for Shoot magazine. <- click on those last two words. But yeah, it all came down to not enough time, especially after so many seasons without one, through times when supporters must have been aching to ask something, even if it was only to go up and shake the manager's hand.
If you have never been on Saintsweb and don't know what we are complaining about...this is an example of what you are not missing. ''If I went to a rugby forum and asked about football I'd expect sarcasm. Ralph did well to even answer, I'd have replied " we're here to talk about Southampton MEN's team" . Women football is a different sport , perhaps I should have gone up and asked about saints running a Sunday morning pub team . Have your own solant forum if you want to discuss chick football , although I suspect the audiance would consist of a couple of lesbians , a few perverts and a dozen assorted bra burners . Nobody , least of all most women, care about it . Get over it ''.
That is so offensive it's almost funny. My 'fave' is the idea that lesbians only appear (almost put 'come' there) in pairs. I registered for Saintsweb but never got round to posting. I can cope with, even enjoy 'robust' humour (there was that Bearsy or whatever he was called) but found that the negative moaning too much for even this old bugger.
We'll never know. On current form, I'd have written something startlingly similar to someone else and posted I t 20 minutes later in a separate thread.
