I've only once been to an England away match - when we beat Luxembourg 4-0 but it still wasn't enough to get us to the finals. I'm wanting to go to the Euros in 2016 and a couple of days ago I started to look into it. I was already a member of the England Supporters Club but not a member of England Travel Club so I joined - £75 gone - I then read that to have a chance of getting tickets for the Euros you had to attend an England match before the end of November so I bought a ticket for England v France - £67.50 gone! I don't know what I am going to do next summer. I might fly out for the matches if they are not in North West France or get the train if they are in North West France. If we can get somebody to look after the dogs I might go with the wife and stay for a week or so and have a bit of a holiday. I doubt we will be staying though given the hassle of getting accommodation. I don't think I'll go to Dubai or Russia but I see the 2020 Euro Semi Finals and Finals are at Wembley!
It's not the same. There's nothing like meeting at the railway station and walking to the ground and getting attacked by the army.
Get a nice RV Peter, then at least when England do their usual thing and get dicked over you'll have somewhere with your home comforts to go back to and drown your sorrows.
That's a good idea. I've been trying to get the wife to hire one and have a holiday in Scotland but she says you still have to go to a camping site whereas I think you can park practically anywhere. I don't like the idea of planning where to spend the night! Maybe we can get passports for pets and take along a dog minder?
And remember that Benny Hill is no longer with us so you'll need someone else to take care of the traffic lights.
I wouldn't buy tickets too far in advance if I were you. You might forget having bought them by next summer.
I was planning on going to a match or two with some pals. Don't think I will be if that's the case. You didn't need to do all that rubbish for the last euros, could buy tickets direct, I looked at going out for the Italy game but basically all flights hd been snapped up and it would have cost the best part of a grand to get out there which I felt was just stupid so watched on the telly. Fookin glad I did anarl.
I have a fiendish reminder system in Outlook nowadays - at least for future events - I don't bother about past events.
If you go with a car (or RV) you can stay a long way from the match and travel in on the day. Some days you could even use Eurostar!
I once went to England v Scotland at Wembley in the Home Internationals. That was effectively an away game surrounded by Scots urinating on the terraces.
I was in the england fans club but had no chance of getting tickets for Germany 2006 I ended up buying tickets out there You might as well have save the money towards buying one out there
You might be able to help me here Peter, if you don't mind. I'm renting a place in Nice mid- June to mid-July next year. I realize the teams/venues combos will not be know until mid-December this year, but regardless, what would be the best way (cost effective mainly) way to get tickets for matches in Marseilles & Nice, maybe even Toulouse or Lyon ? Don't care whose playing, just want to savour the experience having not seen a live WC or Euros finals match before in in my long life (even in '66). Any suggestions would be appreciated.
No thread tonight - but nice winner by De Bruyne just now. Bloody 'ell...Hart nearly gave it away half a minute later, 10 secs before final whistle.
