I don't expect him to be anywhere near those two at the end of the season - the quality in La Liga is so low, I don't know why it is rated so high when it comes to calculating the golden shoe.

I don't watch La Liga so I don't know about the quality of the league but what I do know is that the best players in the world all play in Spain and at international level, the difference in quality is huge. Pity Vardy didn't reach top level standard sooner or he may have been on Real's shopping list :bandit:

The teams down the bottom are so much poorer than their equivalent in the Prem (no surprise given the money involved). The top teams are better than our top teams and the bottom teams are worse than our bottom teams. If Messi or Ronaldo (or eve Barca and Madrid) played in the Prem then they wouldn't be scoring 50 league goals a season that's for sure.

Teams in our league know how to defend, when they come up against big teams they sit back and play for a 0-0 in hope of nicking one. Teams down bottom on La Liga can't and don't do that.

Strongly disagree - the PL is terrible defensively.

Raheem isn't a striker. He can fill in for that position but isn't really that good there. He's better as winger or attacking mid.

Yeah... Well Todgers isn't really a manager. He can fill in at that position for a spell but is better at making coffee.

Champions league top scorers since 2007:

2007–08 Cristiano Ronaldo Portugal Portugal England Manchester United 8
2008–09 Lionel Messi Argentina Argentina Spain Barcelona 9
2009–10 Lionel Messi Argentina Argentina Spain Barcelona 8
2010–11 Lionel Messi Argentina Argentina Spain Barcelona 12
2011–12 Lionel Messi Argentina Argentina Spain Barcelona 14
2012–13 Cristiano Ronaldo Portugal Portugal Spain Real Madrid 12
2013–14 Cristiano Ronaldo Portugal Portugal Spain Real Madrid 17
2014–15 Neymar Brazil Brazil Spain Barcelona 10
Cristiano Ronaldo Portugal Portugal Spain Real Madrid
Lionel Messi Argentina Argentina Spain Barcelona

Oh yeah, its obviously La Liga being low quality, rather than them being absolutely brilliant and in brilliant teams.

Well its pretty hard to answer the question because you'll disagree with anyone that we put forward and claim "he doesn't play like Vardy".

    Sterling isn't a striker.
Benteke scored 3 times as many goals as Vardy last season and is 1 in 3 [before injury] this season - mush as we'd like it, he's unlikely to score while not playing.
While Vardy was scoring 5 in the Championship, Lambert was scoring 31.
Balotelli - I will give you that one <laugh>

You need to get your fact right fella ?

    Benteke 2015/16 .. 2 goals in 7
    2014/15.. 15
    Lambert 2015/16 erm NIL <laugh>
2014/15 erm a fantastic 3 goals in 37 apps<laugh><laugh> by the way when Vardy was in championship scoring 15 Lambert actually scored 16

Sick note Sturridge so far this season 2 in 3, fair play !
    Last season 5 in 18 games .

Vardy has so far scored more goals (9) than The whole of Liverpool F.C (8)

    Vardy cost us 1m
    Benteke cost you 32m !
Who's getting the best value for money so far ?
Do have a lot of respect for LFC and its history... Top,top club <applause>

  15. You sound like an Evertonian, they always try to justify Lukaku by comparing him to our **** strikers too <laugh> You just need to throw Borini in there too though <ok>

Houllier: Emotional Klopp is perfect fit for Reds

Former Liverpool boss Gerard Houllier believes Jürgen Klopp's 'emotional' style of management makes him the perfect fit for the Reds.
The German got his reign under way with a 0-0 draw at Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday, and takes charge at Anfield for the first time on Thursday when Rubin Kazan visit for a Europa League group stage clash.
And Houllier is sure that the club's fans will quickly take the former Borussia Dortmund coach to their hearts because of their similarly passionate approach to football.
The Frenchman told beIN Sports: “Since [Liverpool] decided to part company with Brendan Rodgers, I thought they would be looking for a different type of management.
“And I’m glad Jürgen has joined because he is very keen on Liverpool.
“He likes the club, he likes the values of the club and I would think he will bring a lot to it.
“Leadership is a transfer of emotion, and in that case I would say [Klopp] will be good. Jürgen is a very emotional man whether he wins or loses, and I think his style of management will fit in well with this squad.
“It will also match, I would say, the values and probably the enthusiasm of the fans there.”
While Houllier led Liverpool to six trophies during his own six-year spell in the Anfield dugout, he could not end the club's wait for a Barclays Premier League title.
But the 68-year-old is convinced the Reds can claim top honours with Klopp at the helm in the coming years.
He continued: “I hope he does for the fans of Liverpool.
“[Rafael] Benitez finished second, I finished second as well - but we never managed to get to the first place.
“In Benitez’s time it was Manchester United he was up against, and in my time it was Arsenal who were winning and [going] on this undefeated run.
“It will be difficult because, Chelsea, Manchester City, the usual suspects, are always there.
“But at some stage I think the club can get bigger and probably win a title. That’s what all the fans want and they’ve been waiting years for that.”http://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/first-team/196284-houllier-emotional-klopp-is-perfect-fit-for-reds

Very interesting debate going on here - many thanks (ahem!) to #LuvgonzoGit for triggering! <laugh>

For what it is worth my take on Vardy

He's late to the table (so to speak) but that doesn't mean he's not worthy to dine in the restaurant! <laugh> ... thre are many instances of players not coming through traditional routes but nevertheless making it at the top level ... I'm old enough to remember Steve Heighway and Brian Hall who Liverpool plucked from Skelmersdale United - the former was a marvellous footballer, the latter not at all bad ...

Vardy has a phenomenal scoring record in the lower leagues but it has taken him time to find his feet at this level, perhaps not surprisingly ... he has certainly had a couple of 'crises of conscience' along the way that had him doubting his own ability ... but eventually the 'street fighter' mentality came to the fore and he has pushed through and on ... although those insecurities still exist when he ges to International level - he is not the same player - almost seems to me that he is struggling to believe that he is deserving of the opportunity ... and not helped by the fact that he is both being played out of position and that some players in the team can't see past Wayne Rooney (and not just because Wayne is carrying some <laugh>) ...

Yet the stats for this season (even though I hate stats! <laugh) adequately demonstrate that Vards is deserving of the opportunity at International level - he is without doubt the current 'in-form' English (if not EPL) striker ... my hope is that he starts to get a little peed off with the situation and takes matters into his own hands ... the boy can finish ...

Couple of people saying he is 'bang average' ... I disagree ... he is a unique talent - a rough diamond ... and much of the criticism levelled at hi comes from people who haven't actually watched him and perhaps suffer from a tinge of footballing snobbery ... he reminds me of a less skillful version of Michael Owen ... more agressive - perhaps better in the air but not as polished on the floor ... but both share(d) incredible pace and an eye for a goal ...

Now if Vardy actually is bang average - then I'll take 11 players with bang average stats like these any day of the week <laugh>

"Vardy has a phenomenal scoring record in the lower leagues" - 1 goal every 3 games in the Championship.

So they were your 'facts' <laugh>

Benteke has only played 5 full games and was subbed at half time v Norwich <ok>
Lambert is no longer our player what he scores this season is of no interest, but to put you straight he made 25 appearances last season most of which were 15 minutes as sub. He spent one season in the Championship and scored 31 goals <ok>
Come back when Vardy has a 30+ season .......... that's the mark of a great striker.
