Statement from Pinnochio Meire today... "I spoke to Guy over the weekend and told him not to worry. He is only under pressure to get points. He said he is under enough pressure from what he puts on himself and that he feels ill when we lose. We still believe our squad will be fine when everybody is back from injury and we have to try to manage that. Last year I knew what was wrong. This time the answer needs to come from the players. I have a really good relationship with Guy and it is wrong to go against that" From the SLP. Deluded and worryingly detached from reality.
The thing is, the problem is exactly the same problem as last year. Unless she is referring to how the players allegedly got Peeters sacked last season. Either way I still feel if we lose tonight and don't win on Saturday he is gone.
Who are these brilliant players who are returning from injury to rescue us ? Fatekole? Reza ? Maybe Cebellos ? Deluded.
''We still believe our squad will be fine'' No, it's been proved the squad is ****. The first XI can compete, but anything after that counters the crap you spout. Someone tell her to stay away from the press, she makes it worse every time she opens her mouth.
That comment reads as an admission that the players got Peeters the sack and have maybe tried it on again over Luzon.
The fans seem to be backing Luzon more and more (well, it appears that way to me). How long will KM allow that to stand if results are bad and he's not seen to be the problem? The fans energy is then aimed all at her and RD. She'll grow conscious of that.
I was thinking more along the lines of the players not being good enough, although maybe they think they're better than they are, and would get the results under a new manager. If Katrien still thinks that "Our scouts really know what they're doing", and that Luzon is "Our own Sir Alex Ferguson" she must be quite mystified.
I don't think our fans are backing Luzon. Most see him as a dud and a stooge. Sympathy is tempered by the fact he knew what he was getting into after being sacked at Liege. The football we have played recently under Luzon has been every bit as bad as that we saw under Peeters, Riga, Powell, Parky, Pardew, Reed and Dowie
With every game his popularity remains and he gains sympathy. That brings negativity to KM and RD, and from my professional experience there will only ever be one winner. I'm not suggesting it's a guarantee, but think a power struggle could be on the cards. Especially if he hints again he needs reinforcements. Edit - in response to Nicks point, he certainly isn't being celebrated, but since the Reading game he appears to have gained more fans/sympathy.
Riga wasn't offered the job full time because he was popular with the fans..... it was the Douche saying it's my Club and I decide the manager NOT the fans!
The way I see it, Luzón got very little sympathy from the fans after Palace, as it was seen as a game the fans wanted to win, even though the competition is'nt a priority, as the entire fanbase hates Palace. Sincé then though, it's become more and more clear that the squad is wafer thin. With no injuries, the 1st eleven can play some football, but as the injuries pile up, the level drops, as does the average age. It's nice to blood a few youngsters if and when, but to play an eighteen year old as a lone striker away at Reading is just a sign that the cupboard is bare. That's not the manager, thats the top guns (KM and RD). I'm hugely unhappy with how things are right now, but while Luzón may not be a new Ferguson, I can't hold him to account for the current position. If we lose again tonight, I'll be furious, but again, my ire goes for the Belgian clowns of KM and RD. I can't speak for other fans, but generally, the squad seems to be regarded as the problema rather tan the manager.
Luzon is not hated he means nothing to most of us .There wasn't universal calls for Peeters to go either no one cares about any of the coaches since Powell left. They are all sad saps and puppets of the Roland regime . The pus ridden abscess that needs to be lanced is the Belgian DouchataletMiere variety ...very painful smelly and hard to get rid of. Until then we just stagnate. Still at least it's affordable football and young fans can now play badminton behind the East Stand from12:30 onasaturday for a couple of quid so all not bad .
Why does Katrien have to come out with the likes of "He is only under pressure to get points"? So "Not to worry" ??? Ahem! We're not getting many points, Kat. Doesn't that mean that in the English language he IS under pressure? Still, Katrien's told him not to worry, so that must put his mind at ease. And he's said a few days ago that there is no chance of us getting relegated, so that puts everyone's mind at ease. Except that we can do the maths, and see where we are headed, and it doesn't make us "dramatic" as he says, it makes him complacent, although if, as Katrien says, he gets ill when we lose, he must be due some compassionate leave soon. The pattern I detect is that we get told what they think we want to hear, and if we don't like it, we jolly well ought to. As Randy Newman says "We give them money, but are they grateful? No, they're spiteful and they're hateful" Political Science.
Just got home it's 1:00 am and I am disgusted with what I've seen it was Preston bleeding Preston 3 0 flattered us big time talk about rubbish that was a whole council dump worth of crap
Against my better wishes I'm going to find and watch the goals again - solely for the intention of finding the player on the edge of the box who didn't even attempt to chase the lose ball after pope's pathetic punch before Gallagher smashed it in (fair play to him, great finish).
