Heavens - are we still dissecting Saturday's game :emoticon-0113-sleep and at times with such vitriol!!

I have a question: why do so many fans on here have to blame someone on the team when we don't win (or possibly RK)?? Its that burning sense of retribution that I really have difficulty understanding.

We live in a blame culture. Every day someone is at fault for something. It isn't us of course, but somebody else. Incidentally, HT at Swansea 0-1 Stoke and the Swansea fans have booed their team off the park. Quick to judge perhaps.? I assume each fan has someone to blame. :)

I know what you are saying but unless we are suggesting that the end result was solely down to Leicester's good play then someone from the Saints side of things has to be to blame. Maybe you are suggesting that we shouldn't be picking on individuals so much in which case I agree wholeheartedly. There was a collective malaise on Saturday but as a collective they must all share in the blame.

The Chelsea match thread remained at the top of this forum for two weeks after the match had finished, but no one complained about us still talking about it. :emoticon-0105-wink:

You only have to read the thoughts of the Leicester fans who have visited this thread to know that we're a pretty balanced and fair forum and personally I think I have a better understanding of the game thanks to some of the views I read on here.

When you're discussing a game which has ended in disappointment and you share your opinion as to where it went wrong, then it's likely to fall with player(s) or manager. I think too often criticism is read into more than it's intended. I'm pretty sure the coaching staff and the players would have reviewed the game today and I'd like to think views were shared as to where it went wrong. Because if they just shrugged their shoulders and said "Just one of those days" then we will never get better.

For some getting it off their chest is a safety valve, if they couldn't let off a bit of steam they would simply disintegrate.

To paraphrase Karl Marx's famous quotation about religion being the opium of the people, this forum is surely the opium of the Saints fan!

All games are learning opportunities, but I don't think this is a game to worry about....it seemed horrible to us because we aren't used to seeing Saints play in a seemingly hapless way. It comes down to a tired team taken by surprise by the intensity of a well drilled side who were capable of playing for over 90 mins....knowing about Leicester's style and resilience didn't stop Saints being caught out by reality. These things happen...after all Chelsea knew about us but it didn't stop us beating them. They have more to worry about than us as Chelsea have been a bit like this most of the season and they regard not winning the league as a major failure. This game was a one off.

Well I suppose it's better that they do it here than argue with their partner/kids or kick the cat/dog or strangle the budgie. :)

I'm not sure if the honourable member meant it so but I'm determined to take that as a compliment. :)

When Rupert Lowe was our chairman the cat learned to leave the house at lunchtime on Saturday and not come home until Wednesday evening. He hasn't got out of that habit even after all of these years. As for the dog he gets his retaliation in first as he always growls and bites me when I put on my Saints scarf. It is quite Pavlovian really he sees the red and white scarf and instinctively attacks me before I get a chance to kick him. We don't have a budgie any more. The one we did have we called Rupert (he had a feathered brain) but the cat got its own back by killing and eating it.

When we win, some get quite annoyed when the pundits highlight our opponent's defensive shortcomings, rather our attacking prowess. When we lose, some prefer to look for failures of tactics or performance rather than congratulating our opponents for theirs. Yes, it's annoying to lose a two goal lead but the pundits say that Leicester were good value for the draw and could easily have won it on their second-half showing. and we are not the first team to find them worthy opponents.

No one's blaming anyone for the first goal on Saturday - that's collectively a team problem. But sometimes a mistake is a mistake. It isn't the team's fault collectively when eg. Boruc tries a Cruyff turn on the edge of his box as last man. Sometimes they're so ridiculous as to be chalked down to momentary madness, and just a one-off that no one can explain. But this one was just blase, a bit casual, and surprisingly a bit naive. I think if it happened on 70 minutes, it would be forgotten, as the team's inability to find a goal over 20+ minutes would suggest to me we just weren't in it, and didn't deserve it. But it's pretty deflating with 2 minutes on the clock.
