Nah, but that's why the Newcastle lads survived though!

This sounds like an interesting project actually, I'm all for creativity (so long as it contributes in some way to self improvement).

I do a bit of writing myself, how much have you written so far?

This is another of about 5 WUMs (admittedly this one is funny) who make an account and immediately post on our board, then we never see them again. Are they all BamBam?

I know you might not want to 'leak' your project yet but any chance of posting a couple of samples of your art?

So it's just at the draft stage? Ah fair enough.

So what tone are you going for? I assume you're attempting humour but is there a storyline besides (understandable) digs at Geordie culture?

Yeah, it is humourous, it's based on 5 Geordie lads who survive and what they do to pass the time/survive. The main one's ambition is to go to Sunderland and slay as many Mackem's as he can but he never does as he doesn't want to take the chance of being bitten and having to spend an eternity there. There are digs at the Geordie stereotype, but other regions too when they go on there travels.

So there's minimal actual horror content? The zombies are merely a bizzare aside to the plot. You have to be careful not to go over old ground as it's a theme that's been done a few times before (the focus more on the acceptance of human futility rather than fear of death) so it might be an idea to actually play UP the Newcastle theme.

I see the main joke being that Geordies are actually no less braindead than the zombies that surround them, spinning an epic out of your plot will be very difficult so the popular short-panel format would probably be best and to be honest you need to pick your audience between 'anti-Newcastle' and 'anti-North' (as painful as that may be) as it's very hard to do both.

Will there be much of a football theme? I could see this working in a Sunderland fanzine...

You should cut that ambition out, it sounds so stupid, it feels like a placeholder of some sort, like some random interjection.

That's actually given me something to think about. Cheers mate. There is a bit of horror in it but it's not the main theme as you have put. The Geordies are not portrayed as being as thick as you seem to think. TBH, the reason I chose Geordies over us is because most people from outside the region associate all of the NE as being Geordie ( I work in a call centre and am constantly called a geordie by customers).
There is a bit of a football theme, the tribalness of it, as they travel to other regions and find other people (groups of fans as it turns out) who have survived.

What is the overall purpose of the comic? You'd struggle to make it a topical serial given the fact it's in a fantasy setting but simply as 'walking around meeting new people' goes you'd have to have some REALLY interesting insights into human behaviour to make it anywhere near entertaining.

A plot along the lines of '99% of the world's population may be dead but football spirit is still alive', where 'the lads' are more concerned over the fact they've lost their beloved Newcastle United rather than any real concern for their own wellbeing and so attempt to rebuild English football by finding as many survivors as possible.

Don't know how straight you want to play it, the lads could be trying (in vain?) to teach zombies about football with the underlying commentary that we as football fans mindlessly follow our clubs regardless of their fortunes, just like zombies.

As it's in comic format, I don't know how good an artist you are but repeated violence is very difficult to maintain so a zombie-slaying spree would get old quick.
