I'll look at this win as a must have 3 points. Scoring six was totally unexpected though. Whilst our defence is what it is, I did notice that Colo made a few good blocks in the second half - doing what he's supposed to do when he's on the pitch.
We don't seem to have anyone in the midfield whose a really good tackler. This function goes a long way to protecting the back four - and it's here that we're coming up short all too often.

Picked a good week to forget to renew my satellite TV subscription so missed all the footie this weekend. Now not sure whether the win was because I wasn't watching and so I have to think hard whether to renew before next week.

    It's a no brainer - don't do it!!!

If we win you'll know you did the right thing and if we don't then you wouldn't want to have seen it anyway!

I have for a while been trying to think of a way to describe the football of my era with the football now, then I saw that goalkeeper in PINK, I could never have come up with such a portrayal

Ok - will do as I did yesterday and follow-it on BBC website while wearing the new Newcastle shirt bought by my daughter for my birthday. Very nice it is although I would have preferred if she hadn't got Ashley printed on the back!
I can't be blamed if we lose though now. Isn't there a philosophy that says if you don't see something it didn't happen - consequently I think I need to renew my subscription but not watch first half and then switch on when we get to 3-0. Actually looking at our defence better make that 6-0. It will be like being a Sunderland fan in reverse!

Tiote and Colback are both ****. Anita - too lightweight. We are crying out for someone to just stick their foot on the ball and pass it off or bring it out and link up the defence and attack. If we had better defenders, I would be tempted to play Mbemba there. He's shown that he can bring the ball out, isn't scared of a tackle and is an absolute beast.

Colback was very good yesterday mind. Anita was very solid too. I'm not sure either is a top long term option, but they are both good squad players. Tiote - I don't understand what has happened after the first season - we'll blame Pardew, its the easy thing to do

They were both solid yesterday. Credit to both. The problem is as you say, they aren't long term. That is why I suggested Mbemba. If we had better defenders he could move forward and play as a DM. He has the qualities.

Not for me. Mbemba should be the long term defensive solution. If we can find a quality ball player and brute, then Colback and Anita would be good options to have around. We have to be realistic about who we are though, which is a lower half team.
