he could be and ain't you a sunderland fan? read on there, you are so can't really comment on hull city stuff can you? and in regards to us at premier league level, ofcourse it's a struggle to survive, we can't just compete for the european places, teams with incredible players fill those places.. this is hull city, we've only been involved in top flight football for eight years.
We are trying to get back to the Premier League. If we get rid of everybody who is good enough to get us promoted we would get rid of most players and end up getting relegated. I don't think that is a realistic plan.
But, Peter, as we have found in the past, the players who get us promoted to the Premier League are nowhere near good enough to keep us there. Our investments have also been debatable so we are between a rock and a hard place mate.
Our owners have only one aim currently and that's a speedy return to the Premier League so they can flog the club, if Hernandez is likely to help realise that aim (and he is), then there'll be absolutely no pressure to sell him.
The players we have now are to achieve promotion. Once we get promoted we can review who's good enough to play in the Premier League.
Someone like Maloney is a fantastic player but lately he hasn't achieved a lot because Bruce seems to be trying to shoehorn his best players into the team in any position that is possible rather than play them in positions where they are most effective.
We're playing a 4-2-3-1 with Maloney at LAM aren't we? That's just about his best position. Maybe he's just not very good anymore.
We're supposed to be playing 4-3-2-1, but it's actually more like 4-5-1 with no wide men and nobody entirely sure what they're supposed to be doing. We looked much better when we went 4-4-2 and we should start with that next game.
In front of a right back playing at left back and behind a lone striker who needs a partner. Maloney is right footed and plays on the left side and Clucas is left footed and plays on the right side. Elmo isn't a full back but is being played in that position regularly.
Exactly. Hernandez is not an "hold the ball up" type of player so he needs somebody close to him. Akpom is a bit lightweight too without the predatory abilities. Maybe Diamonde is the partner Hernandez needs. Bruce has to accept that he can't get all his best players on the pitch at the same time. He needs to play the best players in their best positions. The other good players can get a chance when the first choice gets injured, suspended and/or lose form.
Would it also be too much to expect Brucey to make the team formation depending on who we are playing? (Assuming he's not constrained in selection by injuries).
Either formation and then players or players and then formation or a mixture of both. You dont want to pick a formation and then find that you don't have the players or pick players and no formation suits. I think that means you have to see which is the best method.
OK - but when SB says all players are fit, and then picks the formation that won the previous game, rather than one better suited to the game we're about to play?
I don't think we need to adjust our formation to suit any enemy this season. We are a very strong side. We should play our own game and let them try and adjust to us.
Discussions between message board members regarding what we would if we were in charge is all well and good but some of you are taking yourselves far too seriously. Do you honestly think Steve Bruce and his selection team scan the message boards to find out who they should select, what tactics to use and what position they should play them just to please you. Every match will be analyzed beforehand and Steve and his selection team will have scouted the opposition and discussed at great length what team/tactics to play in an effort to get a result but some on here are suggesting he hasn't got a clue. Do you think he (or anyone else for that matter) gives a s hit whether I think a so-called striker isn't a strikers arsehole? It's just my opinion that's all. The same applies to other posters who think 'The Hudd" and Livermore should be dropped for instance. All Managers are different and I read an article by ex-Hull City player Michael Bridges who said that he was amazed at the in depth research Sam Allardyce did when scouting the opposition and the lengths he went to to counteract their strengths. I watched the game in it's entirety and must say I was not impressed by Odubajo who gave me the impression of being s hit scared every time he got the ball. Akpom lost the ball every time he got it whilst the team seemed to have no direction. Elmo is a shadow of his former self. We can only improve and I am looking forward to the debut of Diamonde. Rant over.
