Evening Eire and all. People keep saying that this is squad is an improvement, but the points tally doesn't suggest that. My mantra at this stage of the season is forget league position because one or two wins can send you up the table, look at the points, and we are just three above the relegation spot. We're on a record run of home games without a win (and played some teams we all expected to beat) so where is the evidence of an improvement. Your last comment on a change of manager indicates you think this a poor bunch of players. Still you maybe right but we need to win soon or we are in a proper relegation battle.
I suppose my idea of an improvement is the average age is a lot younger, most if not all actually have a resale value compared to the ****e brought in during the bates regime. Has been and journeymen mainly. Whether these younger lads are good enough to ever challenge for promotion remains to be seen and I sincerely doubt if they will.
Interestingly though, he was at Burton Albion before JFH. He was nowhere near as successful as JFH there.
McCarthy was my choice when we appointed Colin. He was available and as far as I was aware open to an offer. We ****ed up when we didn't give him the job, cannot for one second see him leaving Ipswich to join us in the current state of things. Pearson, I'd be quite unsure of
I believe this squad isn't necessarily much much better but it is far more balanced which is important, it is also much younger and has much more potential to shoot up the league. To be honest, I don't quite understand whats happening at Elland Road and whether its a tactics thing as I obviously don't see too many games but it always feels to me that it is easier to sort out your home form than away form. If our away form continues the way it is (we are in the top 6 I believe for away form this season which is a bit surprising) and we sort out our home form we will fly up the table. I personally have never understood why teams struggle away or at home, you should really be playing with the same mindset wherever you play imo.
Really? So if we field a team of under eights you would be happier still. That's a really odd measure of success.... I don't care how old they are as long as they are decent players doing their best being sent out in a system that even looks like they have a chance. For whatever reason (Rosler/ Cellino) we currently are a timid shambles set up in a failed attempt not to concede goals. If we don't score enough we can't win enough!
Well Josh he sure must have done something right because I don't think Jimmy as altered the team much and well what he has done at Brum is unbelievable don't you agree
Yours is not an overall view as you only see at best half a game from that south stand. I prefer LLs reports for accuracy
Most weeks I see us failing to score in the first half, and failinng to defend in the second. If we lose the coin toss I sometimes see it the other way round. If i can stomach it I then see it l on the square eyed monster at home.
I think age is a problem with our squad. The average age of the players is 24 I think somebody said. Our midfield must be the youngest in the division and Mowatt and Cook haven't been playing professional football for that long. Don't get me wrong I like having a young squad but we need some more experience. D.O.L had Radebe and Batty and by the time he took over Kelly has a few years under his belt. We don't have any stand out players either. In the past we've had Lennon, Beckford, Gradel, Snodgrass even McCormack. Take a look at this squad and tell me one player we couldn't easily replace in January if we sold them now. I couldn't . I think we could get somebody with as much talent or better than we've already got. Third and finally I think we don't have enough competition in some place and the squad is very thin on the ground. We have 23 first team players with 7 cm in the squad and 1 LB, 1 LM and no competition for those spots. yes we can talk about players who can fill those roles if needs be but that's a floored system. We also have 3 first team strikers and no back up now Erwin is on loan to Bury. I don't think the squad is balanced at all we are 2 heavy in the middle and not enough players round the edges
yes I do agree he has done well at Brum. They looked like a team struggling with momentum taking em the wrong way. I'd prefer to judge him on a full season though because form is temporary as they say. Another point, if we were to need a new manager for whatever reason would you expect him to leave his current job to come to Leeds??
What about it? I doubt we'd push the boat out money wise to get a manager who hasn't even managed a full season in the championship yet.
Any decent manager wouldn't come within a thousand miles of Cellino. The only people who would come are those who mistakenly can't believe how barmy Cellino is and would believe they could change him.... McDermott.... Or Those who just need a pay check and sell their soul for it... Rosler, Milanic and Hockawally. The problem with our club is now 100% on the pitch and it is all the fault of Cellino being a megalomaniac who believes he is a football man....
I see JFH team got took apart at Fleetwood has the bubble burst I ask myself we will see how good he is now
