That's what I was saying above, football management has always been and always will about utilizing the players available into a coherent system of playing the beautiful game, going back to the days of Herbert Chapman this has been the case, all the great managers have managed to do it.

    BRU!!!!!
Its not rocket science Mick, you stubborn, arrogant, useless prick!!

Spanish, perhaps if Bru got some positional awareness instead of being miles out of position and 20 yards away from play he may get more opportunities in a 4-4-2 in the middle. Mick is certainly not useless he's a very good manager - stubborn yes, arrogant? No. I don't think so but that's the way I see it.

Mick brought McGoldrick on h/t so can I assume we went 4-3-3 second half?

For what it's worth, if this 4-4-2 isn't going to work - people mention the combination in the middle - anyone who thinks Mick is going to play an attacking player in the middle when he has 2 wide boys and 2 strikers - really? Very unlikely to happen often.

I actually think Tabb would be worth a go in the middle alongside Skuse at the minute if we'd going to stick with 4.4.2.

I'd be tempted to go back to the 4-3-3 successful recipe the early part of last season.

Huddersfield aren't a bad side - hell when I looked at their teamsheet they have some capable players however sure if we're going to come top 6 the kind of game we need to win.

    Dreading Tuesday's trip to Hull T B H.....

    Not happening at the minute.

urgh...hard to see where we're going at the moment. All the hope of early season based on a stronger squad and the league position last season seems to be evaporating for me. MM's nouse last year that steered a ltd bunch of players to within a whisker of the big time seems to be oddly missing. Douglas was always a bizarre signing IMO-why did we need another tough, hard working midfielder let alone one that clearly has no medium let alone long term future at our club given his age and adds little to what we already have in good supply?

Nuggets made a good point in another thread which i completely agree with concerning the discussion over giving our young players a run, trying to build a young team using passing football and 'playing out from the back'. someone also said why don't we just sign a creative midfielder (I did suggest Kevin nolan whilst he had his feet up at home but Big sam will have him now at Sunderland). Anyway, the point is playing from the back is a disaster waiting to happen at this level-one mistake and you're punished. You need real quality to pull it off, we don't have it, and even if you do the players get snapped up pretty quick by the big boys and your game plan is in tatters as the system crumbles with the back ups that you're left with. Look at Bish, a few games under his belt and the vultures are circling...

creative midfielders are at a premium, if you have one, great, if they're half decent they'll go pretty soon to a prem club and, again, your game plan is Fu**ed in their absence.

So where does that leave us? In that sense I can see MM's position-play steady Eddies that no one else wants, bring in as much creative talent as you can on loan (all from prem clubs as it turned out, surprise surprise they aren't loitering around the reserves of some other championship club...) and hope they can add the finesse to the decent strikers we have. Except it aint really working and these weird team selections are just pissing me off.

There has to be some underlying reason why the bleeding' obvious isn't being done? Bru isn;t that great, but we'll never get above mid table without some passing/flair in CM.

Murphy's goal scoring last season is never going to be repeated. I'm sorry but it was a anomaly anyway and given the injury, his age, our lack of creativity...

Our best chances lie with our three forwards, why they (or a combination of those that are fit) aren;t played together at home to Huddersfield and the like is mystifying. goals win football matches after all.

Maybe we are just where we are because we are no better, in reality. the league has a lot of ex pre teams with prem money and players, we're a budget job making a decent fist of it. Perhaps this is us until we find another 25 goal a season striker, get some luck and get into the playoffs because I'm afraid I can;t see us making the cut at this rate.

Crikey it's not a waste of ££££ going to watch your team play ever.

We pay a fee, we could win 5-0, lose 4-0, draw 3-3, 0-0 bore draw etc it's a variable.

There's no guarantees - I do not understand how unstable people are.

When we were top of the league I wasn't going WE'RE THE BEST etc,,, likewise now we're on poor form I'm not going mental about Mick.

Hell, now we're on a terrible run a poster who vowed he'd never return over the summer, who didn't post once when we were top of the league is prolific on the forum
( but we've established we love each other, would get on well in person and will meet later in the season and deep down bleed blue and white )

Football is like a drug,,,,, it's probably worse for your health than cocaine but we love it and will stick by it forever.

Waste of money my A**. Best money I can spend is watching the town. LOVE IT!

welly no she wasn't thankfully and westie I agree with you 100% but after that 1st half with the squad we have then I guess its frustration and yes I will waste a lot more £££ ive supported Ipswich for a long time, but however you look at it that starting 11 just didn't perform that's not just my opinion I think most of the north stand thought the same im just a supporter but I can see when its not working and believe me I wish it was
