Yeah I agree, and I'm not singling Clasie out in terms of his contribution - it wasn't singularly his, or Maya's, fault that we drew. I just thought it was an unusual situation to throw him in for his first game of the (league) season, when we're under that much pressure.

Must say it did actually feel like a lot of their attacks were actually coming down our left (though I didn't see the second goal as stream had gone down) which was surprising.

There are times when full-backs need to be full backs, so I can appreciate bringing Soares off. Problem is Yoshida is a rubbish full-back. And did anyone else get the feeling we were f##ked when Kelvin Davis lined up in the tunnel. Nice guy I'm sure, but Saints, let him go already....

Anyhow - the positives! Davis and JWP played well, and together. Clasie got on the pitch. Van Dijk was brilliant again - in everything. AND we've started scoring off some set-pieces which is something that hasn't happened consistently in a decade. And we didn't lose.

Phew! The above won't fix the hole in my wall that I made today, but I might get to sleep at least.

You're aware the first goal came from our left side? Not sure how Cedric would have stopped that. Not really sure why I'm answering this post either mind you...

From the shot on the bench after he went off his eye was completely closed.

I don't mind buying Martina and him just not working out, what does confuse me though is if Ron was fairly happy to play Maya at full-back, why not get someone quicker as our second right-back? Would understand wanting a different type of player (i.e. Bigger) as another option to Cedric but if Maya can do that job then why not get someone with some pace, Maya was never gonna be able to get close to Albrighton and pretty much just left him to JWP which kind of left us in a wonky 4-4-1-1.

I don't really care. The whole team loses it's shape when Yoshida is playing full back.

Would love to have him at the club as a coach or something but you're not wrong. Please be ok Stekkers because watching Kelvin try to deal with crosses leaves me confused and terrified.

Draw was the deserved result, but we blew that game. Poor substitutions. Could write more, but would only be stating the obvious. Two points dropped...

I agree that he's not a full back and it does disrupt our shape somewhat, but I think there were a lot of reasons in combination as to why we didn't hold on to our lead in that game - first of which being the excellence and tenacity of Leicester in the second half. Blaming everything on Maya is really a little skewed.

I mean yeah, those are all fair points. It was a risk inserting Clasie, so it's fair game for criticism. I'm just saying that I was personally okay with it, but I can see the other side.

But again, I just think they played really well. If you scrambled up the goal sequence so instead of us being 2-0 up and drawing it was 1-0, then 1-1, etc. I think we might all come away saying that we were outplayed and it was a lucky thing we made our chances count on set pieces to gain a draw.

I'm aware that you can't really do that. We WERE up 2-0 and that does (or should) change how you play the second half. But Leicester never gave up and played impeccably. People will say "Oh you should know Leceister plays well second half." Well, of course people know. And they Leicester scores anyway. There's a reason-- they have great pace and workrate and other teams get tired.

I'm not trying to whitewash the performance here. We should have done better. But I just like it was something less than "We were up 2-0 and stupidly threw it away." To me it was a game we had a chance to edge, and we didn't. We need to improve, but it's not a disaster.

I just don't ever think taking Davis off is a good move when we are under the cosh. He is such a tenacious presence, and also calm on the ball when it does break. I really think we would have been better taking off tadic for Romeu and shutting up shop personally

During first half injury time, with Fonte and VVD playing keep ball for a minute or so, with no one pressing them, I thought " I'd be really pissed off" if I was a Leicester fan, watching that.
Maybe it had that affect on Ranieri, because they went up a couple of gears, second half.
As already said, they looked like a Pochettino team, but in all honesty, we didn't help ourselves, making some dreadful passes out of defence, putting players under pressure or just giving the ball away. It was a poor pass out of defence that opened us up for their first.
Also agree that Romeu should have come on, ahead of Clasie. To give Clasie his first experience of Premier League football against a team that was playing at such a high intensity, was asking one hell of a lot from him.
Credit to Leicester, just a shame to concede when we did.

I think it was a collective poor second half performance in conjunction with Leicester playing well, although Koeman's subs did not have the desired impact. People always target the weaker players like Yoshida, playing out of position due to injury, and K Davis who is our third choice keeper and played because of injury too, but it was more than that. Southampton look less assured in possession in the last 12 months than before. We have pace and counter well but ball retention needs to improve.

Unlucky guys and good luck after today (other than the return). I've not read all the comments on here but from the skim through, let me at you seem the most gracious, level headed group of fans. Your club has set a great example to clubs such as ours over the last few years and long live the current form both clubs are enjoying albeit you will all be disappointed to let the lead slip today. You will bounce back no doubt

Just got in from the game, don't know what has already been said but its pretty worrying the way we were chasing shadows in the second half? No decent side should surrender a 2 goal lead and why Classie came on instead of Romeu I will never understand.
I guess Mane had run out of steam when he tried to chip the keeper from about 90 yards?
All in all a pretty fraustrating afternoon, credit to Leicester.
