I'm I think Ryan buggered that right up left found too much to do should have raced closer to the pace and would have won easily just my opinion mind you ;)

Possibly ginger, she wasn't in sight on TV throughout. I haven't seen a replay so I'm not sure whether he took her to the back or got a little unlucky from the break where she may have been chopped out of a position. The bird had flown so to speak by the time she was getting going.

Sorry, but I could never back Jack Hobbs who was beaten decisively in both the Dante and Derby - subsequent wins at Curragh and Kempton never convinced me he was worth backing today. But I backed Vadamos as Andre Fabre was confident he'd run a big race!

I think Buick had to ride Jack Hobbs that way, and not just because of the draw. As I posted on the Champions Day thread, he is a proven 12F horse who needed to make it a test and draw the sting out of the horses with a finish. It all went perfectly until he hit the front and then stopped, for whatever reason. As we keep saying, they are horses not machines.

Fascinating Rock was drawn 7 of 13 and was dropped in early. Coming out of Swindley Bottom he was a good 8 lengths behind Jack Hobbs and probably only a couple of lengths closer entering the home straight, where he made up ground hand over fist on JH to win going away.

Fascinating Rock the highest drawn winner in the 5 runnings at Ascot, but more importantly he was the best horse on the day and given a peach of a ride.

According to Gosden he is still very immature and will be a better 4/5yo (likening him to a 15yr old lad). Looking at his sire and the dam's sire that is very believable

Soon as he got to the front, he pricked his ears. I think he quite simply idled in front. Without going back and looking at the races that he has won earlier in the season, I could not say he has done that before as he has won easily enough on good ground (5 lengths at The Curragh) and on the polytrack. It was not as though the pacemaker looked to have gone too quickly but the first two did come from well off the pace.

I do agree that I cannot see where Buick was at fault. He might have wanted a lead for another half a furlong but the horse just did not quicken on the easier ground and idled.

With the manner of his wins Solow could easily be underestimated on what's he done this year. I think we've been watching a 10f horse effectively grind out wins under his optimium distance. The same way we've seen Golden Horn do it so often this year. Neither are winning races with a flashy turn of foot, but there doing enough to beat what's around them. Neither would be 'greats' so to speak but credit where its due, they've both dug deep to get win after win for months on end. Neither might have a great change of gear but to have been winning from April to October, they must have some constitution.

I guess it depends on your definition of good. Solow went into the race on a rating of 124, just ahead of Gleneagles on 122. I would say that is pretty good given that the top-rated in the stayers’ race was 117 and the fillies’ race was 116. We all expect the ‘greats’ to be in the 130s but there have been some better than average performances in 2015.

Another nice winner today for Mulholland with Fox Norton conceding lumps of weight to Golden Doyen and one of Skelton's. His horses really are in top order.

Monster gamble just landed at Catterick, although not much money would have done it but 50/1 into 18s for DUTCH BREEZE.

Well guys just back from Ascot and my racemaking duties- they trusted me to take the pony club members round the course on tour beforehand talk about thinking on my feet! But went well!

12.45- AGENT MURPHY looked a picture in the paddock but don't know what happened in the race just dropped tamely and fell literally on FORGOTTEN RULES who himself looked well! Didn't think anything much of the winner CLONDAW WARRIOR getting dq don't know what that was about!

1.20- MURHAARA well what a performance looked well and absoutely performed like a champ

1.50- SIMPLE VERSE looked the best out of them all she looked a champion I know it's easy to see thay but she really caught the eye an she's big top and she performed the best, COVERT LOVE didn't look 100% she was jogging round the parade ring! Dismissed her on that

2.30- GLENEAGLES didn't look bad beforehand but just didn't pick up like he does on the ground Ryan gave him a couple of smacksthen when he didn't pick up eased him right down. SOLOW first time I have seen looks like a rocking horse picture horse he really is. BELARDO what a dog he is I backed him last week and does nothing then places at 33/1 massive

3.05 JACK HOBBS looked ready to win and the only way he was gonna get beat was the ride and that's what happened! When he got to the front Buick should have applied the breaks but he just kept going they went some pace incredible he got 3rd had Frankie ridden him I think he would have won! Bad ride IMO. Found looked a little light in the ring and was given far too muchto do dropped right out the back and the pace they went she had her work cut out! RACING HISTORY was being scrubbed quite early on everything was happening bit quick for him but one definitely to watch out next year took everything very well and calmly future G1 IMO! FASCINATING ROCK who I backed can't believe small stakes but looked good and typical a Weld horse ready for the run smullen didn't panic and hardly had to come off his line the gaps opend and he took advantage of his conditions

    3.45 Didnt even bother!!!

Overall a good day! But one horse to take out is RACING HISTORY
