Good Morning Everyone, Rosler has reiterated to Leeds fans that promotion is not on the agenda this season. “For me, it is realistic that we improve from last season. My personal aim, I said it from day one, is to finish in the top ten. “Is that realistic? Yes. I said from day one, promotion is not on our agenda. “I can understand our supporters when they think they want to win promotion this year. But I am a football coach and judge what I have available and the teams we are competing with. “Automatic promotion or indirect (play-off) promotion this year isn’t possible. What you have to plan is improvement. You have to improve the young players and the team and our supporters should see improvement over six months and 12 months in terms of how we play, points tally and position in the league. “I am completely for that and that is what I get judged on.” Anyone shocked? Rosler has identified the next player to make the step up to the the first team is................... Drum roll please Millwall Steve Lewis Coyle Rosler was speaking to BBC Radio Leeds, and said he has even recommended Coyle is offered a new contract. He said: "He is on the way to being a first team member, very impressed with him. I recommended to Mr Cellino, give the player a new contract. He is next in line." Coyle is a right-back, and was sent off in an under-21 game on Monday, but Rosler said he watched him again in a behind closed doors game on Thursday, where he featured in the opposite full-back role. He said: "He played left-back and was very impressive. His attitude, his desire, his physical attributes, he's not the tallest, but he's quick, aggressive, not afraid to get on ball. Willing to attack even on left hand side. He will be the next one." Good thing too, as we'll lose Byram shortly.
Lewis Coyle has looked very capable in the youth team so not surprised. Allbeit I've personally only seen him a couple of times.
Good morning to Matt and co from an overcast Bardsey I think that Rosler has deflected his performance which has been poor at best by saying we can't get promotion this does not sell match tickets having this negative attitude I have had doubts about him for a while now by saying we are not good enough is terrible admission I hope he leaves very quickly now as he his clearly not up for the job We have got a very balanced squad now so what's the problem there are no teams who are outstanding in this league but there will be next season when we are joined with Newcastle Sunderland and Villa all big clubs with massif support and money. What will he say then! I would like to hear what you think makes a good manager because I believe there is far more to the job than spending big money and having a good press eg Harry Rednapp
At least Rosler is being honest, a no win situation really, state the obvious and get called out for not having ambition or say we are going to make top 6 and have fans laugh at him then point a finger when we don't manage it. Take any manager in the PL outside the top 6 fancied teams, would anyone take notice if they said they were going to finish top 3?
Simon Hibbit stop lurking. Say hello and post something. We dont bite unless you are a paddy, a wallie or a supermod...
Totally ashamed with Roslers attitude if he thinks like this he should leave now.I agree with Andy Hinchcliffe who says the race is wide open and we have every chance of a top6 finish if we got some consistency
We are not talking about PL we are talking about our league where anyone can win it . It just needs consistency and a decent manager not someone who throws the towel in at the first obstical
Maybe just maybe, Rosler is aware like many others that the squad is just not good enough yet for promotion. He and Cellino have talked about recruiting (hopefully) better players in both Jan and the summer. We dont have the money to do all our business in one window. I've not been happy with results or our play but still think he needs time to build a squad properly. I say give him time but if he continues with his stupid 433 system even i will lose patience. For the record i'm not going tomorrow or again till i see some positive improvement. I'm sick of having to try and get my kids to keep the faith and support on our glum drive back to York after the games.
Admitting your squad is not good enough and throwing the towel in are not the same things. We are an average championship team playing at a below average pace. A new guy might come in and improve things but we have to face facts, our squad isn't good enough to challenge for the top. I expected 10th at the start of the season, at present we are going to finish well below that and Chris Wood is now on course to score less than 18 goals. Agree with all of this apart from the 4-3-3, I believe his hands are tied, the first game he dares try anything like 4-4-2 and we lose and he will be out.
Can't blame you when we have got the best RL team the best cricket team you would think that some of it would rub off
Totally disagree its about time we showed that we are good enough we beat Derby who are favourites to go up drew with Reading away so we have got talent but in my mind bad tactics are letting us down
