The fixture list over the next 36 games is very kind to us.

Let's not kid ourselves, with the budget and playing squad we have at our disposal, this league is full of piddling minnows in comparison.

If we had this same squad in the premier league this season, if we drew any team in this league home or away in the cup we'd rightly expect a comfortable victory. I don't see why we should see these teams differently just because we share a league with them, down to last season's epic catastrophe.

We are by far the strongest club in this division it's time we started showing and acting like it.

Very true, I just wish our fans would shake off this stupid notion that our best times were bumbling along at the bottom of Division 4. Or that we're a small club that traditionally play in League 2 or whatever bollocks they come out with.

    N'Doye had 15 starts, that's a bit more significant a sample size.

John "Jackie" Smith as featured in OLM's article apparently has our best ever ratio, with 98 in 158.

Great article by Junior on "Jackie" Smith...sad end to an amazingly prolific but short career. I have a set of cigarette cards from that era including him but I can't recognize him on the articles team photo. I believe the only Hull City player who came close to his 1.6 games/goals ratio was the largely unheralded Andy Flounders.

At the beginning of the season wasn't there a list of players that we HAD to get rid of because we simply couldn't afford their wages (even with the relegation clause coming into affect) and I am sure that Hernandez was on that list. Nobody is more pleased than me to see us sitting high in the Championship with an 'a la Fraizer Campbell' Striker but I believe that Fraizer was on loan during our promotion year and didn't cost us a tenth (correct me OLM) of what Hernandez is costing us.
I haven't the slightest doubt that if Abel can keep putting the ball in the net then some club will come in for him in January and he'll be GONE!
THEN we have a big hole up front that I hope Diamonde can fill but he will need a strike partner.
We have a good side for the Championship with 'better-than-average' players but the Premier League is a different kettle of fish - as we have found in the past.

Similar to Long? That resulted in relegation. So receiving his value is more important than getting promoted?

I think 'amber' was meaning that if a Club came in and offered the 10 million that we paid for him then we would have no option but to grab it with both hands Peter.
Our two past foray's into the Premier League have seen us struggling to attract the players we need to keep us in the third quarter although last season, to be fair, we were terribly unlucky with injuries to key players and the fact that Sunlun stole 6 points at the end to doom us to the second tier.

Hernandez is scoring goals. £10 million wont score the goals we need to get us promoted.

I see your point Peter but Hernandez will be out of here if someone comes in with 10 million (or close to) to buy him - that is the point people are trying to make. Whereas "10 million" in itself won't 'score goals' it would (or should) be more than enough to buy players capable of scoring at this level. Again, the moot point is that players who can score goals at this level have (mostly) been found wanting at the next level. The old 'rock and a hard place' syndrome. Diamonde has a huge weight on his shoulders but should be capable at this level but again, if Hernandez goes then he will need a 'partner' and there isn't one at the moment (imo) so I would expect some movement in January.

So Hernandez (with a worth of £10m) will leave but another player (worth £10m) will join us? We might get two players worth £5m each but will we play both of them and will they score many goals?

Also I'd like to point out £10 million isn't a lot of money in football. There's no guarantee we'd be able to find a player to score as many goals as abel is atm with £10 million. And I'd rather not piss about trying

I'm not criticising him but come on, he's scored 5 tap-ins. He's not suddenly brilliant. Joe Mason and Chris Martin have scored the same number and I'd be amazed if they were all as simple as Abel's. Nick Blackman and Jonathan Kodjia, the latter who I've never heard of before in my life, have scored more than him. Anyone suggesting those players were worth £10m would be laughed at.
