With the International matches now over, we can again refocus upon QPR and ponder on the team choice for Saturday’s away match at Birmingham. I would play 4-2-3-1 with the following set up: GOALKEEPER: I would rotate the goalies with the hope of mobilising them, thus play Smithies. However, I have a feeling that CR will play Green. DEFENCE: I am not sure if playing Onuoha as a right back was effective, so I would return to playing the dedicated full backs, and in the centre I would pair Onuoha and Hall. I hope that Yun may make a long awaited appearance as substitute. DEFENSIVE MIDFIELD: Definitely would play Sandro (if still fit) and would partner him with Faurlin ATTACKING MIDFIELD: No changes to the trio of Phillips, Fer and Chery STRIKER: who else but JET!!!!! -------------------Smithies--------------------- --Perch ---Onuoha--Hall ---Konchesky-- --------- Faurlin---------Sandro ------------- ----Phillips --------Fer ------------Chery --- -----------------------JET------------------------
I'm pretty much with you on that 11 except I think we need more pace in our midfield and would prefer Loungo to Ale in the 2. I have read some say he wasn't so effective there early season, but hope he''s been getting some coaching in that role. He has got both the speed of thought and movement, plus the eye for defense opening passes we need there. Alongside Sandro he should do well there. I'm afraid though we'll see Tozser and Henry in the 2 again .
I also hope we don't see Henry should Sandro be fit. But I agree we probably will and knowing our inconsistency, he will probably play a blinder! As regards Luongo, I would like to try him in this creative DM role and I thought that in his previous club he also performed in this role. However, you are correct that this was "criticised" in the past, but mainly as then he was the creative player performing the No.10 role. I agree it is a shame to have him on the bench when we lack speed in that position. Perhaps CR may suprise us?
Henry will get the call because Ramsey won't want to look like he's been pressurised into changes by fans. The problem is that unless Henry plays much, much better (and probably even if he does) the vocal fans will still call for him to be dropped and Ramsey might have to bite the bullet and do it.
Henry I expect to play … maybe off form he is still best in that position as the team grows Massive Gaps in the midfield doesn't help and not Henry's fault IMO Sandro will get back in and if he produces form then of course he has the ability to command that position I am guessing …………………Green…………………. Onuoha….. Angella….. Hall……. Konchesky ………….Henry…….Sandro ………….. …Phillips……………………... Chery… ………...………...Fer………..………….. ………………….Thomas…………..
I think that will be the exact team, except maybe Tosser instead of Sandro.Unfortunately Henry will be the first name on the team sheet,i never want to see Perch play for us again, complete liability and one useless git!
Of course Henry will play. We could sign Pirlo and a young Roy Keane and Ramsey would play Henry in goal if need be to get him on the pitch.
No, I have not. Just don't see what the bloke offers the team that someone either more creative or younger couldn't do at least as well. He seems to have aged hugely over the summer.
Ramsey got out of jail against Bolton. The decision to start with Henry and Toszer was baffling and he would have been rightly slaughtered had we failed to win. The right-back position and Angella at centre-back are further problems and I would revert to Hall and Onuoha at CB and Perch (reluctantly) at RB. If either Furlong or Harriman were not out on loan, I would give one of them a go. Just realised that I've picked the same team as the OP. -------------------Smithies--------------------- --Perch ---Onuoha--Hall ---Konchesky-- --------- Faurlin---------Sandro ------------- ----Phillips --------Fer ------------Chery --- -----------------------JET------------------------ Doughty to replace Faurlin if he tires. Would like to see Smithies given a run in goal.
I wonder when Chris will think of playing 3 at the back (not quite thinking how this would work....OTHER THAN BADLY ......................................Goalie....................................... ......................Ned....Angella..........Hall ..........Faulin.........Sandro............Doughty..... ........Phillips --------Fer ------------Chery --- -----------------------JET------------------------ .. Would be very unfair on the Konch though
Stroller, I see that we are both on the same wavelength. The team above has obvious weaknesses, but based on the "knowledge" of several weeks ago, we came to the same conclusion. I am very interested if, based on the trainings of the last two weeks, CR will come up with a suprise with either: - a different team or set-up - or much better performances from some players (and here I hope that the defence has been practicising intensively!)
I am not sure Ramsay 'got out of jail' against Bolton. I felt we were the better team overall. Indeed you could argue the opposite happened with Cardiff (late equaliser), Forest (Green/Ned howler) and Blackburn (blatant hand ball not seen by ref/linesman). We could easily have seven more points despite our frail defence.
I agree that we were the better team against Bolton, but they were very poor and we nearly threw away two points. If we had, I think Ramsey's selections would rightly have come under scrutiny. The selections of Henry and Toszer, when Sandro, Luongo, Faurlin and Doughty were all available was hard to fathom - Henry even wound up as number 10 when he took Fer off! I'm not one of the Ramsey-Out brigade, but he would justifiably have been under increased pressure had JET not come up with that late winner.
This Sunday is my 35th wedding anniversary and the trouble and I are off to Stratford-Upon-Avon for a romantic weekend. Handy for St Andrews please log in to view this image
I'm not going as I have a shedload to do and am off away again on Sunday (for pleasure rather than work for a change), but have just bought tickets for my son and one of his mates. I stupidly didn't check how I actually get the tickets at this stage, picking up at St Andrews I'm guessing, but I'll have to phone the box office tomorrow to check.
