It's not just being priced out though, I am perfectly able to pay. It's one symptom of the overall gentrification of football, and in a way is symbolic of the owners' ( not just AA) desire to rid the game of the noisy troublesome lot that have been around a long time...sadly those are exactly the ones that create an atmosphere
So mebbe our club should sell ten season passes at 10 pence then we'll be classed as the cheapest. Only what Man City are doing. Its not ideal but it works out at 23 quid a game with the season pass. Plus three free Cup games. We all want cheap tickets. We all wanted Andre Gray for 6-7 million plus keeping all the others etc etc.
If you ignore the free cup passes, which were an afterthought, you used to get about 7 free games for buying a pass. Isn't it around 2 free games this season? Most people miss at least one game, if they have any type of actual life, so it just didn't make sense even if you were happy with a pay increase on relegation surely Or have I done the maths wrong?
Of course they can but i live in the real world. When we were under threat of dropping from the Championship under AP he was asked if passes would reduce back in Div 1? What do you think he said? Yes?? No did he ****. He said we still have the same overheads and players contracts and to strengthen and go again they wont be reduced.
I dunno Im **** at maths too!! Just asking how old you are Dennis? Cos what you say about being disillusioned etc I agree with. But that can be an age thing too. We stop going out as much, we stop enjoying things we used to. I think a lot use the Allams as an easy excuse when its a wider malaise. How much have the Allams taken out of the club? I dont know. But I'd wager Paul Mcshane has taken as much. Was he worth a few million for 5 years? Was he ****.
As I understood it you dont have the same seat every week. They shunt you anywhere, all single seats as well. So you dont get to go with friends. That may be wrong this season but pretty sure it was last season.
I'm in my late 40s so I understand your point. However I probably go out more now than I did in my 20s, enjoy lots of stuff which is stupidly dangerous for an old fogey (freestyle snowboarding for example), am reasonably well off, actually enjoy my job, enjoy a wide and varied social scene and travel a fair bit ..............I don't think it's an age thing, and I'm generally not a miserable bastard ( in fact I'm an optimist ) Ive no idea how much AA has taken out of the club. I don't think I've ever questioned that. In that regard I have absolutely no issue at all, it was his investment and I reckon he's completely right to pull some out if that's what he wants
Hmm....I'm pretty sure that's complete bollocks. As far as I'm aware, there are over 5,000 season passes at £299 and another 3,000-ish passes between £299 and £530 and they don't have any daft restrictions.
You sound very similar to me at the moment. I've not been to a match for months now simply because I cannot afford it. TBH it's as much my own personal circumstances as it is price increases. Travelling, fuel, match ticket, parking costs all add up to about £60 a go and with the cost of mortgage and household bills all up on what they were a year or two back, football is something I've had to give up for now. If I'm honest that might even be the case if it was just £20 a ticket, although I'd certainly be more tempted then. I'm still very passionate about the team - I still celebrate and get pissed off with results as much as ever, and am actually really itching to get to a match soon. But the other problem is knowing no other City fan in the 'real world' nowadays so that can make the journey somewhat of a chore too.
Good in theory but you can bet the police won't want people in the ground from 12.30. And you won't be able to have a drink and be entertained as you can't drink in sight of the pitch.
Interesting this - I think Chazz is right in that a lot use the Allams as an easy excuse and it's something I've tried not to do, as much as I hate a lot of what they've done over the past couple of years. But I'm in my late 30s now and probably have the best social life I've ever had. Just relating back to my previous post about travelling to matches on my own being a chore - I'm finding I prefer spending my weekends and evenings with friends nowadays. None of whom are City fans, or even really football fans so I've got no chance of persuading any of them to come along. Life just evolves and changes.
I'm not completely blaming the A's myself for this, even though I think he saw it as an opportunity to get rid of some protesters at the same time as increasing revenue ( I don't know whether he has or not, it's irrelevant ) Lots of English clubs saw the opportunity to milk fans and bring in less troublesome families as a crowd at the same time. It's not for me, but while people are happy to pay through the nose for it, it will continue.
So in the real? world, the man can do what the **** he wants can he? You should know by now that he can't. Even Assem seems to have learned that lesson. What the **** has Adam Pearson got do with this?
The stuff about AP will be completely made up, like the stuff about Man City, the poor lad's getting desperate.
