Agree with you generally, Mango. Good player technically but his temper is uncontrollable at times and it might not do much for team spirit if he starts thumping his teammates. NW's man management might get the best out of him. Overall, I wouldn't choose this player for the R's but shan't send back my ST if we sign him...

If we took the moral high ground over every player there would be a lot of players leaving the game. Barton is an arsehole but so are many other players. He is one of the best midfielders in the country and he could do a job for us. A penalty clause in his contract may be a way forward but I think he may well be out of our league. Warnock would have to be at his persuasive best to land him. Ask yourselves would you turn down Ashley Cole?

That's the point, sometimes players we've spent all our days vilifying end up available. You could draw the line with King and Hughes due to the reprehensible nature of their crimes, but Barton, Bowyer and the like are typical yobs who just happen to be very good players, I'm sure if we got Barton and he was performing at his best he'd soon become a fan's favourite.
Agree with Mango, wouldn't touch the man with a barge pole. I'd prefer we get relegated than start "scraping the bottom of the barrel" for people like him. Bit disappointed so many people seem to be making excuses for him!
There have been several people worried about the chance that some of our new players will go missing through injury. What about a player who might go on a state paid "holiday" for a few months?
