Bayern Munich supporters’ group calls for protest at £64 Arsenal tickets

• FC Bayern Worldwide says cost of tickets for Emirates are ‘excessive’
• Group plans to boycott first five minutes of match on 20 October


A Bayern Munich supporters’ group is calling on fans to boycott the first five minutes of next week’s Champions League meeting with Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium in protest at what it calls “excessive” ticket prices.

FC Bayern Worldwide has organised the protest in collaboration with several other supporters’ groups after Bayern fans were charged a minimum of £64 to attend the match in London on 20 October. According to a post on the group’s Facebook account, with fees and postage included, that means the majority will have to pay more than €100 (£74).

Out of curiosity, how much are the Bayern tickets, on the return leg?

 

I just went to the article and found this:

"A recent study found the average price of a ticket in England’s top flight is £54, while the cost of a ticket in Germany is just £23."

Oh dear....

 

I know some people who have decided to follow German football. They'd rather get on a plane every weekend to watch German team they support than go to EPL games. It's cheaper for them.

Bayern's cheapest season ticket costs £104.48.
The prices over there really do put ours into perspective.

 

Wow £104, that Is amazing. The reality is a lot of people are priced out at buying season tickets, especially for the top Prem sides. Football is no longer for the working class.

 

Tbh I get why ticket prices are so high your paying to see a performance any show in london is going to be more expensive then the rest of Europe in most cases

 

I would like to see arsenal reduce the number of season ticket holders that would make the atmosphere In the stadium a whole lot better

 

The German league is showing the rest of the World how to do it.

The matches are still affordable to the working classes, the league is competitive and the TV coverage is excellent.

They are dominating in Europe and in International football without the huge revenues our clubs bring in.

 

The German's are doing very well, and are very, very good at long term planning and thinking ahead. Unfortunately we are very short-termist in this country, and there's no way we'd accept/agree to take a hit, like the German league did for about 8 years in the early 00s while they sorted out their league and national team - putting greater emphasis on youngsters.

 

Workmate tells me that match tickets in Germany are subsidised by taxpayers over there. Can anyone confirm that?

 

Yeah the government and councils in Germany pump loads of money into the game. Afaik several stadiums in germany have been built or renovated by the cities not the clubs.

 

Germany should be applauded for such efforts. They are trying to build communities by subsidising tickets and bringing people together.

I've read that Arsenal tickets for the game at the Allianz Arena are €50, which is a little under £37.
That's roughly what Bayern subsidised the tickets to for their fans for the last visit to The Emirates.
It cost the club about £75k, which they said was a thank you for the continued loyalty of their travelling support.

 

I can easily afford a season ticket, but I refuse to do so because prices (across the PL) are excessive.
