I think Klopp is more inspirational than Ancelotti. Is he as good as Ancelotti? That's debatable. You can't argue with Ancelotti's resume. Ancelotti has won more than just about anyone. If we had a well humming machine Ancelotti may have been the better man for the job. That we are currently down in confidence, despondent and out-of-sorts, I think we need a "personality" someone with charisma and cult of personality, like Klopp, to pick us up. For us, here-and-now, Klopp is the better fit. I also think for the players we have, we fit a Klopp team better than Ancelotti. I think players like that makeup wearing doofus, Lallana, are going to look a million times better under Klopp. He fits a Klopp team perfectly... He sucked under Rodgers.
We didn't tell anyone else... But we did tell Harry Redknapp, the guy who takes every chance he gets to take pot shots at Liverpool. Its bull. He's a liar and a WUM. A jilted lover who wishes he could manage us but keeps getting told he's not good enough.
No he didn't say you where in danger of it, he said you already where, and he said its been going on even when he was playing for you. He even mentioned you'd won 1 trophy in 10 years, just a league cup, which is ironically the same as Spurs. So your achievements in recent history are no better than Spurs. You are the new Spurs! Atleast JC can see it, he isn't living in denial like the rest of you
1 trophy in 10 years? Ok 10 years ago only just excludes a CL and a European super cup... But doesn't exclude our FA cup win under Rafa that you seem to have forgotten. Slim pickings for us, I agree. In that time we had another CL final a CL QF, were seeded #1 in Europe for two years, another FA cup final. 2 2nd place finishes. Yeah. Our trophy haul has been depleted and list of honours shortened but even in this most dark of decades since the CL we've claimed more than Spurs If even just. They've reached nowhere near our CL seeding or later stages of CL. They've not had the two title attempts we've had. Sure, most of those 10 years we've languished in obscure positions... Average probably not much different to Spurs... But our rare good years are much more inspirational than Spurs. Would a manager like Klopp have picked Spurs? No. Spurs has nowhere near our global branding or foreign awareness... 2 things that keep us with a sliver of hope they will never have. In reality, Klopp is probably our last good chance to be big again for a while.
Do you reckon in this age of instant gratification that he'll be given enough time to do a complete overhaul of your entire setup? What I mean is, do you think the need for instant results will drive him to make decisions based on immediacy as opposed to long term development? Longevity seems to be a think of the past in the game, which is idiotic when you consider that the stability that longevity brings is ulitmately much more cost effective for owners and invariably delivers greater (relative to resource level) success. e.g. Ferguson, Wenger, Moyes. I think Klopp has all the right attributes to succeed at Liverpool, and given the time I reckon he'll deliver, my question mark would be over the timescale he's been set.
Your long term 'pedigree' is obviously much greater than Spurs, but a decade is a decent length of time to use as a measure and your returns in that time frame have been hardly startling in comparison to them. So whilst your history still sees you above them in the pecking order, it won't forever, and I think that was Carraghers point. Another decade like the last one, and the comparison will look far more even.
Don't argue with me, argue with JC, it's his opinion after all. I don't think JC was refering to the times when you where doing well in Europe towards the start of that decade we are discussing, I think he was refering to more recently when you've only qualified for the CL once, and that turned into a disaster. I'm sure Klopp would join Spurs if they where paying him what you are. It's not really to much of a different challenge, try to get an upper mid table side into the top 4 consistently. And London usually has more appeal than Liverpool to foreigners. So yeah I think for the same money he'd of gone to them
And I agree with you on that point. We can still attract a high profile manager like Klopp but a few more years and it would have been over for us. I think Klopp could very well be the deciding factor on whether we get bigger again or slide down to permanent "Spurs" level. Our highs are still higher than Spurs highs... Even if we've averaged about the same... But we're not far above them. The reason why Klopp picked a team like us is our romantic history of success. That will fade as more and more managers consider that ancient history. It's essential for us that Klopp does well...now...time is running out. That's why I began to get desperate for Brodge to get sacked.
Why not? He was getting paid £4m a year at Dortmund, you're paying him up to £7m. Anyone of the top 7 or 8 PL sides who could have pitched up a similar amount and offered him a decent war chest, would have had a chance of landing him. Don't kid yourself that he's come purely for the love of the kop or he's got YNWA tatooed on his cock.
Neither of your last two managers have won anything, so utd's recent history makes utd equal with us and Spurs with no titles in the last 2 seasons. Your days of gloating now consist of finishing 4th, Rodgers had a better record in the prem than LvG and Moyes and he got sacked That's the thing Shergar, we know where we are and how long we've been here but you new breed of utd fans sti!l delude yourselves you're still the same club Fergie managed and had so much success with.
You really are wet behind the ears if you believe that tripe. He picked you because despite the fact your not a top side, you are paying him more than most top sides pay there managers. If he was joining you through sentimental reasons you wouldn't have to pay him 10 million Euros a a year. You basically made him a financial offer that was to good to turn down
You're an empty vessel lad. All smilies and hash tags, totally devoid of reasoned argument and making posts fueled by nothing more than your one eyed delusion.
I think that if there are positive things happening in successive seasons he'll be given plenty of time, I can understand you taking the opposite view and why but its your opinion against mine Tobes.
Indeed, but it doesn't fit the narrative mate, so you're wasting your time. They've bought into the Mickey Quinn version of reality, hE lUvS dA koP LA, aLWaYZ bIN a REd lAd
Because you, UiR, King Shergar etc. have been reduced to such patheticly weak attempts to talk down our club that it can't even be excused as banter any more You have become a joke, take a few days off lad
