Thanks Blunham, Life is good, might not be commenting too much, cos the rest of the lads on here know a damned site more than me about SAFC, even though I've been a supporter since1954. Better to concentrate on my driving, with all the calls for extra tests for the owld gits!!!!!!

Allowed to drive at 16, but limited to the type of car you can legally drive. At 18 you get a few more types of car added to your licence then at 21 you get to drive whatever you want.

Mind you, all of this will be redundant once self-driving cars become the norm. under 21 and you can't have full manual control (speed limited) and over 70 the same.

In my state of NSW in Australia no road/medical testing is done until age 75. Then a yearly medical occurs to obtain a licence until age 85 when a driving test plus medical is required. Then a road test/medical every 2 years thereafter with a medical in the non-test year.

I am 77 and still driving but intend to finish in the next couple or so years.

I'd say anybody under 25 should have their car fitted with monitoring devices, the moment they start driving like dickheads, the monitor sends a signal to their insurers who increase the price of their insurance 3 times, then cancel it the fourth time and that should be recorded as a criminal offence that you have to put on your CV.

Nobody in this country NEEDS to drive like a lunatic unless they're part of some highly trained response unit, which would be exempt or probably over 25 anyway, the rest would be on a track.

My youngest (21) got his insurance company to fit one in his new car. A guy came out and fitted it in just 10 minutes!
Saved him a fortune on his insurance! Great idea.

A very illuminating thread with many worthy suggestions and ideas, but what shines through for me is that all you clever young tw+ts will be reach old age and then you can sit back and observe all the stupid young clueless drivers.
