100% record in the qualifiers for Euro 2016. Some good wins, some ordinary ones, and all done by a manager who was derided even before a ball was kicked and all done with a young team. The praise and criticisms of him now is absolutely deafening from the press and others who did not rate his appointment. I hope we go on to win it and look ahead to 2018.
Well said mate. All too often in football (and elsewhere), criticism of people is run by fashion. You on the other hand have been guided by facts. My compliments.
I lost interest in the England squad a while back - I haven't watched any of the games in the 2016 Euro qualifiers - s'pose it's a shame really may have missed some good games as they seem to be doing pretty well, but I have no doubt if I show some interest they'll go back to being rubbish ... maybe I'll sneakily catch up with them in the final next year
Same here Diddles, will be an interesting Euros though, looking forward to it and hope all the home nations who've qualified do well England included. They've lost my passion though. Nowt to do with Woy and I would never want to see England do badly.
Can only beat what's put in front of you, but...... We all know how it ends. First time we come up against someone decent and we'll be on the plane home.
I don't rate him or his side in the slightest. This hasn't changed that. It was a professional job done by a group of very average players. The fact that Andros Townsend gets more games for England than for Tottenham should tell you all you need to know about England really.
That is exactly the argument that was put forward by people in 1966 when Sir Alf said he wanted a team blend which would not always include the so called classier players.
Couldn;t give a flying **** about England - Hodgson picks players regardless of form - much as others before have done (Rooney/Kane/Townsend etc.) so why should I watch that ****e? Have no interest in the national game and often find myself laughing when the opposition score! Cannot find myself supporting them - rather follow one of the other home nations TBH
I haven't watched any England games since the world cup, they're just an inconvenience to the football season in my eyes tbh, though no doubt I'll be sucked in again in the run up to the euros. They seem to have done a professional job in qualifying but that's a minimum expectation, it should be a foregone conclusion qualifying from that group in plenty of style given the lack of quality in the group now they've got to give us all something to shout about next summer, unfortunately I suspect we'll get found out as soon as we come up against a decent opposition.
thing is mack - I am proud to be English too - just because I have zero time for the national football team doesn't make me less patriotic.
I worked for years for the MoD and support the armed forces. I am a proud Englishman - just because I don;t support the England team in football (I do in every other sport by the way) why am I less patriotic than someone who does? I give to the help for heroes and always take part in the remembrance day silence etc. I bet most of the "patriots" on here who call themselves that for supporting a bunch of pussies (let's be honest, a large number of them don't deserve to be starting for england on current form and are only there because of their "jobs for the boys") kicking a football don't - by definition I am probably more patriotic as an Englishman than most others. Or do only the national team count in patriotism?
We won the Asian cup over here in January. I know it's not the Euro's but the whole country was behind the Aussies! Your Union team let you down big time, would be nice to see your football side make the most of it! In regards to Reginald Cheese, I disagree mate. Any1 could be proud of their country but ashamed of the way their sporting team is managed..
