Not sure if you guys are aware of the Men in Blazers podcast, and a guy called Roger Bennett did an interview with Rodgers in 13/14. Roger said it must be amazing to train on the same ground as Shanks and Paisley. And BR asked if the mic was on... Off the record, BR answered "not really, I don't give a crap about those guys, only care about myself." Now I'm not sure if it's true or not but thought it was interesting.
I couldn't care less. There is no reason to be kicking previous manager whilst he's down. Wish him well and we part ways. That's it.
Bennett is a Blue nose, so it's possible he was kicking the beaut in the bollocks with that comment like
Even though I was never convinced by Rodgers, I couldn't believe that he would say that so I went looking and found this - The quote starts at about 33:45 in the podcast marked - 10/07/15 with DeAndre Yedlin: http://meninblazers.com/page/podcasts Granted it's only his word but why would he lie about it. I don't know what to think and while people are saying don't kick him now he's gone, for me, it goes some way into 'proving' [?] he was never the right man for the job as a lot of us suspected.
listening to it from that mark now ... listened and dunno whether brodgers actually said that do we as it's this no-mark presenting the podcast's say-so he annoys me this guy, mostly his voice which is a key element of a podcast I guess have had to turn it off, looked him up and his credentials aren't that great
Not too many 'no-marks' get invited to the training ground to officially interview the Liverpool manager so I don't know. Big question is why would he lie?
The same reason newspapers lie about things every day....it gets attention. Who's going to bother listening to a pro Rodgers blog now? Who's going to listen to a blog claiming ex manager slags off club legends? I'm not particularly bothered either way as he's gone now but I also take any of these stories with a large pinch of salt. If there's one thing you can compliment BR on during his time here he was pretty damn media savvy (or just bland). Hardly one to rock the boat whether the microphone was on or not. As with the "Rodgers signed all the bad players and the committee is blameless" stories now leaking out I'd suggest it's easy to kick a man while he's down but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt over a fella like Bennet unless there's a bit more evidence than mere hearsay.
For arguments sake, lets say the reports are right and therefore, your claim is right too; what does it achieve or matter...?
I also looked up his 'credentials' and they aren't too shabby - He's written 6 books, directed, produced and made a list of documentaries and also writes for New York Times, Time and ESPN. That indicates he's a serious journalist not someone looking for the latest thing. The podcast was made in the summer.
