The journalistic beacon of pure light that is the dailystar suggests that Tim Sherwood might be about to get the sack and Villa has lined up Brendan Rodgers as his successor. Despite the tongue in cheek title I hope he does well (but never beats us). It will be interesting to see if he can save them from relegation.
His main rival for the job appears to be David Moyes. A manager well used to dealing with crap teams.
Would be a mistake for him to take it. He needs to get out of England and do some more learning. If he takes another PL job so soon his ego will force him to continue the same approach. Not what he or Villa needs. Go to Spain BR
It's what Moyes did It's a shame that British managers are just not cutting it. Are there any who could be considered world class?
Think young British managers won't do it until they give up trying to come up through the ranks in England. It pains me to say that as it sounds counter productive to creating a source of home grown managers. But... I think if ex players and young coaches headed to the continent got their training there, a broader education than the lower English leagues and then came back there would be a better chance of them being able to get the big PL jobs. Rather than not being trusted as good enough at the elite end here. But is it the same problem as British players ...too much money in the British game which means mediocrity gets rewarded for just staying put and doing the same old thing, moving from club to club?
I realise manager and coaches are are different but doesn't this come back to the coaching setup in this country? We have a fraction of the number of coaching that Spain, Germany, Italy, etc have. This effects youth development as well as coach development. Coaches often become managers in time, more coaches will result in higher standards, higher standards result in better quality and in the end would see us get better managers coming through the ranks. We also seem to have the mindset in this country that a good manager as to be a ex-professional player too. How many managers do we have in this country that didn't play to a high standard?

Rodgers for England would be great. We don't need to defend against the Dog & Ducks reserve youth B team anyway.
Ex players need to go into the youth team, coach there and work their way up. Too op many ex players expect to just walk into a decent level job having 0 qualifications or they take a job at a Lowe level with minimal coaching experience.
Realise this isn't just about Liverpool but I mentioned two on another thread, Hodgson and Rodgers - come in our bottom 3
Both played but not to a decent standard. Brod was briefly on Readings books but that is far and away the highest point of either of their playing careers.
Last time I checked, Matrinez was Spanish.... Do they just mean people currently coaching in England or are British...?
