Lucy is married to Jon Richardson from 8 out of 10 cats.

Watch out for another Hull lass, Laura Aramayo, fantastic in Dancing Through The Shadows.

I think that is where she reported the shenanigans after the biggest Derby in the universe and everywhere else from.

Not sure - could well have been, but as my Dad is no longer with us I cannot find out. Will have been somewhere walkable from Hawthorne Avenue though.

Is this a repeat? I am sure I have already listened to this before and I was disappointed because it was not very funny at all.

She did a live show from a club in Hull, hosted by Johnny Vegas, which was also on Radio 4 and was also confusingly also called To Hull And Back, but this is a completely different show.

His parents Gordon and Ivy owned the shop were friends of my mother. Gordon leant me his spare golf clubs when I first started playing about 45 years ago at Springhead. John went to the same schools as me and my sister,Pickering Road and Kingston, although not at the same time. Very nice family

I think it is even more confusing because she also did a pilot called to Hull & back on Radio 2 - its success (!) has resulted in this series on radio 4

I hope this is different, but I've not really found much of hers that I've heard very funny.

I went to Pickering Primary and then Bethune in the early 80s after my folks bought and ran the shop on the corner of St Nicks until about 1985.

I really didn't like it when we moved in, didn't like the area, the school, I grew to love it! Got very bored when we moved back to the villages. But, it really didn't turn out so bad. I wouldn't live anywhere else now - I love the area and for everyone who writes disparaging things about East Yorks and Hull - Great - It keeps it a secret for those in the know ;)

I thought all kids in the 50s walked 10 miles each way to school, uphill both ways and in 3 foot of snow?

I don't know about School - but my Grandad lived in Pickering and when he got his first job, an apprenticeship at British Aerospace - he used to bike from Pickering on a Sunday night to his digs - with a weeks worth of clothing. Work Monday to Friday from digs and then bike back to Pickering on Friday night!! All weathers! He worked at Aerospace his entire career until retirement. Not sure how long he biked - but he always trots it out from time to time.

Radio 4 really isn't la-di-da, some of the very best comedies started on it. It was where Alan Partridge first appeared and nobody would say he's high-brow.

    Except possibly Alan himself.

When I was very small we used to do the reverse walk every Xmas day from near Picky Rd to my Grandmas in Hawthorne Ave. No bus service and no cars in the family in those "good old days".

No. Sometimes it was raining. And don't forget the paper round before and after school.

John Alderton's dad was a bit of a wine lover - I always remember him advertising "Plonk - matured in the wood".
