My debut novel Stasi Child is out this month which has no relevance to this forum except for the fact that you might want to pick it up dirt cheap today as it's been made an Amazon Kindle deal of the day -- with a price of just 99p compared to the print price of £7.99 (and it's not actually out in paperback till February so ebook is the only option for now). It's a crime thriller/historical thriller set in East Germany in the mid 1970s. The only tenuous Hull City link is that I'm a fan, and I'm trying to overtake Grimsby Town fan Alex Gerlis in the rather obscure Amazon German Historical Fiction chart. He's way ahead at the moment but only a few clicks can change that. http://amzn.to/1LDuEn7 It's been getting very good early reviews - averaging five stars onAmazon.co.uk and around 4.5 on Goodreads: http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/25708878-stasi-child And it's been chosen as one of NetGalley's top ten UK books of the month for October 2015 (alongside the latest from Peter James). http://blog.netgalley.com/the-uks-top-ten-books-coming-in-october-2015/ Anyway, hope you might consider buying it -- but if not please recommend to anyone else you know who likes crime or thriller fiction. And hopefully the mods will be kind and not delete this blatant bit of self promotion ...
Up to number 4 in the table, so just one place behind him now. Many thanks if anyone has helped! http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/bestsellers/digital-text/4542694031/ref=pd_zg_hrsr_kinc_1_5_last
Cheers Happy! I think in general people are heading back to paper books. Loads have been saying they want to wait for the paperback. However that could just be code for eff-off David. And I don't think that many realise you can get the Kindle app free on pcs, Macs, ipads, and smartphones ...
I work in IT, so you would think I would be pro Kindle or any other digital means to reading, but I don't think you can beat the feeling of holding a book, the smell etc. I purposely by used ones from Amazon in a hope that they look warn and used, just makes them a bit more special. Its not so people think I have read them all.........
I don't disagree, it's just my publisher is opting for e-book first to try to create a buzz, and have more chance of getting the paperback in supermarkets etc when it comes out. Personally I think publishers need to adopt the system some micro record labels do -- ie if you buy the physical copy, you get the download free. (But I don't want a lower advance as a result ;o) )
Worth a punt at 99p...downloading to my Kindle as I type. I went to East Germany a number of times in the seventies so am a real sucker for this genre/ era in any case. Best of luck.
I love a good book and sure, I agree a new book has a special feel and smell but honestly, just as happy with an ebook. Charging now, was totz flat.
Can you download to an iPad? I gave up reading books years ago, I just don't enjoy reading fiction. But for 99p I'd give it a download to push it up the charts.
In answer to my question, 400 pages! I don't have the attention span for that. You must have spent a decade or more writing it.
Shorter than the City transfer thread...in answer to above: yes- download the Kindle reader App on your Apple device.
