I went to some United games last season while still having my pass at City. It'll be a bit harder to decide now I've developed more of an interest but it'll be a nice problem to have. I'm actually a bit torn this weekend. I fancy Wednesday but it's also gonna be United's first game at the new home ground, wherever it is.
You can dress it up however you wish, but the fact is that for commercial reasons a clubs name was changed. There are now doubts to the creditability of the saviour of the club. Did he lie? You use term "ugly corporate machine" well maybe down the line, that is just what will happen at Hull United, what then? What happens when in order to fund their march up the leagues they have to sell their soul to the ugly corporate machine? I am not defensive about my loyalty to Hull City, I just find it odd that on a thread about a club that changed its name loyalty is measured by what a club is called and if you cannot see that, perhaps you should. I hope that Hull United sorts out their problems, I applaud the community enterprise and spirit. I just hope that other local non league clubs do not suffer loss of income or access to players because of them.
For the two to be comparable, Hull United would have had to have changed their name purely due to the petulance of their owner.
But they changed the name, only to end up being locked out of their ground, by the person that they put so much faith in.
Irrelevant to the point I was making, which was that your suggestion that the situation at Hull United is remotely similar to that of Hull City is laughable.
Whose 'they'? Jamie Waltham was Hull United. You can keep saying it's a fact that the name was changed and that it was for commercial reasons, it doesn't make either statement true. You didn't even write it in capitals.
If I ever see a bloke in a half Hull City half Hull United shirt( like the one that bird wore at Liverpool) I know it'll be PLT. What colours United play in?
Can I just inquire to those who may be ITK or be involved. I understood Hull United to be a "club for the people", hence the nickname "The Citizens". Free tickets, non-profits etc etc. Were these "commercial reasons" for changing the name, that have been suggested, solely sponsorship to cover costs which enabled free entry, lifetime season passes, travel, kits, ground fees, training costs etc etc & not a leftfield bid to conquer world football & clean up the commercial markets in the far east & other Asian countries putting them on par with the Man Utds, Real Madrids, Aresenals, Barcelonas, Chelseas & Bayern Munichs of the world along with running up massive profits for the owners of the club?
That's your anti-Allam obsession coming out again OLM. Both name changes were for marketing reasons alone. The fact that you agree with one and not the other is subjective.
Bollocks, I've sat in a room with Assem Allam while he stated categorically that the reason he wanted 'City' out of our name was due to his fall-out with Hull City Council, no business case ever existed. As for Hull United, I neither agree nor disagree with anything they've done, I don't really know what's going on and I'm not particularly arsed either way, they're not my club.
Can't seriously believe it was being run to break even? Do the directors do it all for free too? Initially it was to expand in the local area but if they had any ambition, and I suggest Ash is competitive and ambitious, well you work it out. It's just about scale. Without Jamie though it wouldn't have happened at all so it's no surprise to see the knives out.
Hull United need there own message board. They can F. . K off from HULL CITYS message board for me I dont support them and never will HCTID
