    To DA?

Keep reading he.ll sort out the defence. So how is he gonna do it so differently to what DA was trying?

He.s still has to work with the same usrless bunch of pva. jones. Coates and co.

What does he do. Pack the midfield and leave fletcher up on his tod?

Ps. O.shea sent of last night.

The only solution is to give the back four more protection and be less attack minded than DA. Probably best achieved by Cattermole in front so we could be heading for a rigid 4-4-2 but with more mobility from Lens and MVila. Toivonen could be the one to dip out.

Lens banned first game. So maybe larsson or watmore?

You think he.ll play 2 up top?

    Im not so sure.

Options for the middle four will depend on how fast he wants to break, Rodwell and Cattermo;le to shield back four and leave other two to back up front two. I can see Fletcher for aerial and Defoe or Watmore for ground work. I'mm just happy we have his first two games against the basement lot.

PVA has been crap so far this season, but I think most of us thought he did a good job last season. SA need to help him get back to last seasons form.

O'Shea and Kaboul have been allright together, it's when Kaboul and Coates get paired together that really goes to ****.

My guess on SA lineup against WB - Cattermole to play in front of the back 4. Watmore, Toi, Borini behind fletcher.

    So no Defoe?

Wonder how he will fit in with SA plan.

SA would have been watching the international games, and Fletcher fits his type of striker more. So for a 1st line up I think we will see Fletcher line up. Defoe on the bench

I agree Vince but how and where?

Defoe is better than Fletcher by miles. But i can just see SA picking Fletcher to play up top.

Other option is to plan Toi (6"2) upfront with Defoe sitting just behind him ?

I don`t think DA was far away with the attacking side of things.

The defence is a different matter altogether. I suspect one of the reasons he walked is that the window closed with a job half done and he thought he couldn`t get any more from them. If that`s the case I`m interested to see how Sam can get more from the ****e he`s been left with.

It`s not going to be easy.

Agreed, especially while Yedlin is playing. Those crosses of his are right up Fletcher's street. Defoe isn't tall enough to capitalize on them - he wants it on the ground.

Agree about the attack. But I think Dick and Congo honestly believed they'd done the necessary with the defence. At the end of last season, Coates was excellent. He gave nowt away. So they signed him - and look at him now. Coates has been the big enigma for me - he's a shadow of those last few games in April/May.
