60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and early 2000s. Yep. Last ten years or so. Erm.... Has somebody release a new version of robin s - show me love? Theres usually a few 100 remixes a year.
Well it had been a very popular song from a musical for over 10 years and had been turned into a film in 1956 so yes, it is probably legit that most people had heard it at some time
it's not like thousands of scousers have never sung YNWA inside the sacred walls of Old Toilet before is it ?? Dunno why there is such extravagant butt hurt over this
TBF there were probably only about 6 songs in the entire world back then so you could remember the words to every song you'd heard once
Not like its the only song sang nationwide either. Back then pop songs were kind of popular to sing at matches. Liverpool may have started that trend in the 60s but there's clips of fans singing songs down at Pompy and elsewhere back in the 30s and 40s. Large groups of people, plus alcholol, plus friendly atmosphere might just spark a good ol' sing along.
Yep, like Glory Glory Tottenham Hotspur was started off by a few fans at White Hart Lane and then adopted by Stretford End.
Yeah but it usually takes some work for people to get the chant spread to enough people who know the words In her "Hollywood" memory the entire stadium was onboard and in tune by the second verse And it went down so well they never ever sang it again
Pretty popular from most accounts at the time. So popular in fact, that just 5 years later the highly successful Gerry, and his good old pacemakers, resang and released a version later adopted by the kop, only after they won the league title.
It's what real Utd fans used to sing before the glory hunters turned the place into a prawn sarnie eatery.
Probably more songs then than now. You didn't need some crap TV show to become a singer either. You grafted for it.
