Good shout on the Airborne Sooper. I only got to know them as Planet Rock used to play quite a few of theirs.

RIP Jim indeed, he had a solo No.1 in 1984 with this...

Cheers Sooper, this is one of those songs I recognize but can never put a name to. Mind you I was only 9 in 84 but already loving my music by then.

Thanks to my mum and dad I was listening to progressive rock, motown and synth-pop in the early 80's. I guess that's why I don't dislike much music which is a good thing.

People often slate the 80's as a bad time for music but I totally disagree. It was of it's time but still a lot of timeless music emerged from that decade. I would say tho the 60's and 70's were tough eras to follow music wise but the 80's still did it for me<cheers>

Not too many I'd imagine, he's sung with some obscure bands throughout his career. He did guest vocals on this track by Steve Hackett which is actually quite good...

That's unreal. I grew up listening to Hackett's early albums thanks to my prog loving father. I'v never really got into his later stuff that much. Still a great guitarist.

People often wright off Genesis after Pete left but the band really changed when Hackett left imo. Even with Phil singing they still sounded like the old version for a while. Hackett left and they went after the £$£.

I still don't mind the later stuff but it was a different kettle of fish altogether. I'v often read that Tony Banks held himself in high regard and was a bit of a control freak.

Here is I think their (one of) 1st live performance after Pete left. My fave drummer from Yes and Krimson Bill Bruford helping out on sticks...

Definitely at their best when both Gabriel and Hackett were in the band, like many great bands their best work was their early albums which established them. Here's one of my favourites...

Love this Hackett song featuring Randy Crawford doing in my opinion one of her best vocal performances...

I guess you saw the original line up more than once back in the day Sooper?

I know Pink Floyd put on some of the best shows effects wise but I been told that Genesis used to have a really good lazer show. Would that be true as I'v never seen this in early live footage?
