Reported in the Sun: VICTOR WANYAMA will snub a new contract from Southampton in a bid to land a move to Tottenham, writes JUSTIN ALLEN.

Spurs tried to sign the midfielder on deadline day but Saints boss Ronald Koeman blocked the move.


Now the South Coast club have offered the Kenya international, who has two years left on his contract, a new deal to try and keep him at the club.

But Wanyama, 24, has his heart set on Spurs and his former boss Mauricio Pochettino is set to come knocking again in January.

A source said: “It’s not in Victor’s interests to sign an extension.

“He loved working with Mauricio and would still like the move to happen.”


A 'source' reports Victor wants to sign for Spurs. I think Victor will sign a 10 year contract on half his wages....shall I contact the Sun and be a 'source'. Personally, I can't see Wanyama signing a further contract now he has shown signs of restlessness, but I hate anonymous sources.....they need to come clean and declare their status so information can be assessed. And I doubt any players will be permitted to go in January.

 

The 'sources' probably means they copied it from the telegraph who are also saying it.

 

As long as the interest is still there from Spurs then I see no reason why Wanyama would sign a new deal when he made it very clear he wanted the move

 

It's either all made up twaddle or I guess Koeman will just have to say NO again.

If the source is Wanyama's agent, and I don't doubt it, we will just have to hope that Poch gets the sack.

 

No player is irreplaceable. May not get a perfect like for like fit, so you have to amend how matches are approached to compensate. We, more than supporters of any other prem club should know this. As a recent manager said 'control the controllables'.

List of how teams are under/over achieving based on their spending....obviously Chelsea are doing badly, but we are considered to be 2 places lower than we should be. Meaningless, but it's a long time to the next match.

 

It's why we are no longer punching above our weight despite what pundits and newspaper headlines would have people think. 7th is only just good enough.

 

Probably correct. The Standard is saying that he will refuse a new contract in order to force through a move....can't see how that will work. We will want him to go when he has a year left on his contract, but that isn't in January. Needed to keep him this season and did...given time we will replace him as the rest of the team will be more settled. Pissed off with him anyway. Not pissed off with Mane though....have a very thick skin with him...need to keep him next season. A defensive MF is easier to replace than a chance creating attacking player.

 

Oh yeah I don't think he will go in January, just can't see him being here next year, unless Spurs drop their interest.
