Hull City now has "one of the best football training grounds in the world" after installing a new high-quality pitch.

The new surface, at its Millhouse Woods Lane training ground in Cottingham, is a combination of synthetic and natural grass and was installed over the summer.

Manager Steve Bruce said it will help the team towards their goal of achieving Premier League status again.

He said: "The new pitches are fantastic and we know how vitally important it is that we have a quality surface to train on as we prepare for matches throughout the season.

"This will play a key role in our plans to return this club to the Premier League.

"A long summer of hard work has certainly been worth it and we're confident that our new pitches will stand up to the rigours of a full season of training sessions, avoiding any disruption to our busy schedule as has been the case in previous years."

The work, which was completed last month, means the pitch is now more weather-proof, so the team can train in better conditions during winter.

Captain Michael Dawson said this will give the club an advantage.

"We have really enjoyed training on the new pitches so far and, as players, we know that having excellent surfaces like these, especially during the winter months, can help to give us an advantage over the course of a season," he said.

"A good training surface is also important when it comes to injury prevention and I'm sure our new pitches will bring us many benefits as the months progress."

Gerard Evans, communications manager at SIS Group, which laid the pitch, said the team's training ground is now one of the best in the world.

He said: "It has been a forward-looking investment by Hull City.

"They have literally got one of the best football training grounds in the world now."

The work, which involved installing new drainage lines, took longer than planned and caused disruption to neighbours, according to local councillors.

Councillor Ros Jump said the work had taken place during antisocial hours and on bank holidays.

She said: "I am just very disappointed at Hull City's lack of consideration for their neighbours.

"I think the residents should be applauded for not demonstrating in the road."

Cllr Geraldine Mathieson said damage was also caused to a nearby road and footpath by work lorries accessing the training grounds.

She said: "Where their lorries have been turning in Northgate taking a tight turn, they have been churning the Tarmac.

"You can actually see where they have turned because of the damage done and all along the footpath in Millhouse Woods Lane.

"What's happened before is the council have done the repairs and billed them for it."

James Mooney, head of marketing and communications at Hull City Tigers, said: "The club was made aware of some complaints from residents earlier in the summer and made the decision to involve East Riding Council who came along to the training ground and agreed on hours that the work could take place.

"The pitches are now complete and will not need any more major work for at least five years. We apologise to any residents who we disturbed during this process."

The Allams are ****ing ****s having those lorries churn up the road and the work disrupting the neighbours I bet they only had the work done to piss of the locals.

    What a disgrace.

It's nice to have a new training pitch but not at the cost of the people who live there. I'd rather have had no training pitch.

Cott's always seemed to me to be filled with bitter people who couldnt afford to live in Kirkella. It must be 50% curtain twitching spinsters so no surprises they're complaining.

Oh no, not working on bank holidays! Bollocks, bank holidays are nothing to most people anymore! I don't even associate Saturday & Sunday with weekends, except for when everything must close on a ****ing Sunday!

Are they type to have progressed from Neighbourhood Watch to sitting by the road with a speed gun?

Bunch of old ****s do that in Brampton now, and a few other local villages. No idea if they can cause you to be fined, but they seem to be picking areas there's no history of any accidents in, and there's always 4 or 5 of the ****s looking like they're enjoying themselves with clipboards.

I drive past them at 30 laughing at them.

    ****s.

Ros Jump is an interfearing old twat who's own house is hardly in Cottingham at all. I didn't like the banners she had nailed to her fence urging ER residents to vote against any merger with Hull and I would question if she is actually a councillor at all. She doesn't speak for me.
The real news is that the Allams have spent more on Hull City's training facilities then all of the clubs previous owners put together.
Also I heard the club offered to foot the cost of last years Cottingham Christmas lights as a thank you to the residents for any inconvience caused during the refurbishments but the parish council turned the offer down.
Point is if there were a nunnery down Millhouse Woods Lane someone would complain about something.
