agreed - until Moreno can learn how to defend he cannot be trusted at LB

Flanagan will need a long time to get to where he was, if he ever does. And that was decent... we don't know what if any ceiling he has potential wise.

    It's Clyne all day.

    Reality!

Under Rodgers, both would play since he couldn't pick two competent CBs and organise a back 5.
Under Klopp, Clyne and Moreno. Flanno will be backup unless Clyne has a major drop in form.

Maybe one could eventually move to DM...Flanno would be a fearsome enforcer infront of the defense! He'd scrap and battle like Masch and if I recall, his passing wasn't terrible.

In Flanno and Moreno we have players who offer something different. Would Flanno displace Moreno?

  7. This!

Clyne wins in a 1v1 contest because he's able to go forward better but both are above being anything else we have and Flanno can play either side

I prefer Moreno or Gomez at LB to be honest. Clyne RB. Flannel is decent could be good one day if he stays injury free but I think this forum tends to overrate him.

Don't think Flanno has a future at the club if I'm honest. He's actually poor defensively - was the most dribbled past full back In the league in 13/14.

Puts in some strong challenges but not much else.

Klopp needs aggressive full backs who can attack and provide width.

I agree with the last part....which is why I'd have (a fully fit) Flanno over Moreno. Aggressive, at least as competent as Moreno going forward and never had a problem providing width. Reckon he's exactly the sort of player Klopp will absolutely love. Very much doubt a lad who can play both sides and is as capable and passionate as anyone at the club would have "no future" tbh. Why would a manager bomb out a player he knows won't complain, will always work hard and has both solid basics and shown the ability to improve?

For me it's not a question of Clyne or Flanno or Gomez or Moreno. There's room for them all in the squad, none are breaking the bank, just the opposite in fact.

If he does recover full fitness he will undoubtedly have to fight for a place either side of the defence but what we have lacked for way too long is genuine competition for places....and here we have a single player who can, if nothing else, apply pressure to any full back above him in the pecking order.

This is where we disagree - I don't think Flanno is capable of doing the basics, which is why I think he'll be gone.

Yep agree with that, we can't go out and but worldies in every position Flanno will put pressure on the other full backs to perform.

  16. There is only one reason you think Flanno isn't good enough; geography!
