I think Collar Pier 5/1 Fairyhouse 5:15 has been afforded a decent opportunity once more, she came full of running at Gowran last week and was just denied by a gallant Wild Fern that day, the pair well clear of the 3rd. There has been money around for Martin's one but I'm optimistic about CP's chance here.

The race fell apart though Beefy. He would have won but the two challengers who were near at the time both came crashing down. Have a look at the video if you can.

No doubt he would have won, maybe 5-10...still pretty solid effort regardless.

Nice and easy does It...she damn well nearly didn't start but so glad she did, travelled beautifully before quickening up nicely off the final bend to score well enough.

His two challengers both fell two or three out and he was left all on his own.

As I was at Newmarket, I did not see the Channel 4 coverage but I assume they showed the total farce that was the Varsity Race before the actual racing. Clearly how to stop a horse is well beyond those being educated at Oxbridge as one of the horses decided not to stop at the mile start but headed towards Cambridge, depositing the Oxford team jockey Bruno Steinkraus before heading off across country.

Then the start of the race itself turned into a complete joke as the eventual winner was gifted a ten length start. I wondered at the time whether the starter had been a Mr Mason, as winning jockey Holly Mason was able to ease down Realt Na Mara to win cosily, Frankel style. As the horse was being led in up the horse walk, I heard her explain to the groom that she thought the starter had said “go” not “no”.

I think that there is likely to be a consensus on here that Air Force Blue looks nailed on for the 2000 Guineas, subject to him staying in one piece until May 2016. Ryan Moore said that he thought it was the best two-year-old he had ever sat on and he won like a real class act.

The two ‘big guns’ sat off the pace watching each other for most of the race and when Moore asked his horse to go after the leaders, he picked up immediately and quickened to challenge. Buick tried to respond but his horse just did not pick up at all and actually finished last (although not detached from the field).

Obviously it is very easy to say after the race that the weight of money for the Ballydoyle colt and the fact that the Godolphin colt was completely friendless told its own story; although perhaps we should question why the race was touted as a match beforehand.

What I can report is that Appleby was called in by the Stewards after the Dewhurst and the horse was routinely tested and the vet reported no obvious abnormalities. I was told that Emotionless lost a plate either before or during the race but I did not see as he had already left the post-race box area before I was told. Anybody’s guess whether than would have made a difference but I would have expected it to be offered as an excuse if Appleby knew it before he went before the Stewards.

The whole thing was suspicious and is yet another example of the bent pack of lies that the mouthpiece for the sport- Racing Post- has told.

Whenever they make a bold claim like they did midweek, that the bookies had seen 7 x more money on Emotionless, and then by Friday night note that Air Force Blue had come into Evens already, I have my doubts.

Next things to look out for will be Cheltenham Festival lead up, where they will profile a couple of horses chances that will very quickly be announced injured and missing the festival.

In fact we may even see it coming up when they talk about the great season they expect a horse to have.

Perhaps it is a cynical view but if it looks like a duck and sound like a duck..

Just seen on Twitter that emotionless has a knee injury and requires surgery, explains a lot
