WHAT DO WE WANT/EXPECT NOW KLOPP IS IN CHARGE

Discussion in 'Liverpool' started by Garlic Klopp, Oct 9, 2015.

  1. I was talking pre-2013-14 and the anticipation of the forthcoming season. Only Wenger remained with Rodgers having arrived a year earlier.

I think the league is open and offers a great opportunity for someone to get in there but changing manager mid-season isn't great either. Hopefully we'll get the standard honeymoon period first though.

I dont think anyone is bankers for top 4 apart from City atm. The thing is I cant see anyone strong enough to displace Arsenal or United but if there was a bit of a run by Liverpool who knows. And maybe you dont need to as long as you stay ahead of Chelsea.

It's certainly a bit of a baptism of fire that honeymoon period but all winnable with Klopp there. I'm in two minds what result I want when you play the chavs.

Btw as I said a few days ago on another thread you should be going all out for that Europy Cup.

Eleven league games. Away to Spurs, Chelsea and Man City but the rest aren't too bad.

I can't see Chelsea not making it, in all fairness. And you should do it, assuming you don't have a major crisis (fingers crossed for that one!). Thing is, it's mid-October and nothing is settled. You beat Sunderland a few weeks ago and the press had you nailed-on for the title. You were smashed by Arsenal (forget the second half, they were strolling) and suddenly it's Louis In The Sky With Diagonals again. If City don't keep ****ing up every other month they'll stroll it, but even if they do they'll still easily get top four.

My frustration is that, since Fergie retired, the Prem is open to any half decent team getting a grip. It can't last forever.

I think Klopp will take the EL games more seriously than Rodgers did. By all accounts he treats each game as the most important, live in the moment, after the present game, prepare for the next. So no scenarios like resting Gerrard against RM because Chelsea's up at the weekend,

As shocking as it is, I actually completely agree with this post.

Given his experience you stand a decent chance of doing well in that comp now imo

City will end up in the top 4, they're too good not to.
Arsenal will get there again, although they'll likely have another post January collapse.
Chelsea can't be this bad all season and should make top 4.

It's United imo and if they can keep grinding out results. They've not been impressive, despite the points gained so far.

We've got a chance still, but I just want to see some passion and pride restored this season and an improvement in performance. 5th/6th and some heart into the squad and I'll be happy. See what Klopp can do when he's had January and Summer to tweak the team and implement his methods. Anything extra would be well received though!

With a tough start, the next bank was always going to be kinder to us. We just have to remain close up until the new year and with all the big clubs coming to anfield in then2nd half of the season it could really give us an asvantage.

Ps, loving the table format now? <whistle>

Were months away from mid-season <whistle>

I think the club most in danger of not making the top four are Man.U. Citeh and Chelsea will be there, ignore Chelsea's bad start, the seasons barely
underway. Arsenal are perennial top 4 material and are on the up at the mo.

I just want us to play with an identity and actually enjoyable to watch. Some difficult fixtures coming up, but if Klopp can at least get us flirting with top 4 come the end of the season I'll be happy.
Hopefully he goes all out in Europa too, as that is the most important cup imo.

Congratulations on getting Klopp. Getting one of the big names by itself if a big plus for you, given you haven’t done well keeping your bigger players lately. He ought to help you bring in and keep better players, which may be the most important thing. It will be interesting to see how he tries to handle this year. You’ve got a decent amount of talent, but it’s not a coherent group at this point. I imagine he would just try to get the team playing hard and working together, and start turning it into his own team in January.

Of course I’m hoping it all goes horribly wrong, which is possible but not likely. The one thing I’m glad about is that for once what seems our perpetual habit of facing new managers in their first or second game might not count against us. Rodgers turned Liverpool into our bogey team, so someone different is a plus for us on the face of it. You’re now the team we’ve gone the longest time without beating. Interestingly to me, the next batch of teams, Everton, Swansea and Southampton, haven’t beaten us in years.

I’m still hopeful you won’t get that transfer committee sorted out. Somebody should check out what team they support, because it doesn’t seem to be Liverpool. My money’s on the Red Sox.

United will play **** but win games against most. I've just read some nonsense from other posters about grinding out results... considering our succession of scoring 3 goals a game on the bounce, that's the kind of "grinding out" any team would be happy with. Truth is United could play the same way they did against arsenal and still beat a good 14/15 teams in the prem.

Arsenal will be nailed on... AND if they fck off out the CL (which many gooners are secretly hoping for, and some openly) they might just challenge and finish 2nd again.

Chelsea are in a defensive quandry as well as a striker quandry. Pretty sh1t combo if you ask me and I dont see that changing tbh.

Liverpool will have the initial bounce back from the new manager. And the likes of Sturridge coming back should help. Can is a question mark as well as your defence but your attack looks good. Overall Livpl are an unknown at the moment and that's as much I can say in all honesty. BUT it really is their best chance this season rather than next.

Just like your club will soon be part of a franchise (NFL London)will that stop you being a Spurs fan?

Of course not, so the Red Sox can rot as far as I'm concerned, LFC is all that matters.<ok>

As for the other main point, we had an absolute crap record against Spurs at the Lane, but winning trophies during those seasons of defeats meant....Spurs fans celebrated that win but we celebrated winning a trophy.

Your clubs ambition shouldn't be focused on our club but focused on itself, Klopp never used any particular prem club as a yardstick in his interview and neither should you.

Lovely bit of info for all you Liverpool fans. Klopp is only the second German premier league manager. The only previous German coach was Felix Magath, who also won more than Klopp in Germany. And did a cracking job for Fulham when he arrived. Just like Klopp will at Liverpool

Difficult in what we should want/expect.

We're the lowest down the pecking order in probably 30 years and are no longer a big club.

    1. I would like Klopp firstly to install some steel back into the team. Make it fight harder. Its too wimpy.
    2. Sort out the defense and stop them from letting in crap goals
    3. Buy some new CB's if they're not capable
    4. Buy a proper quality midfielder who is influential and scores goals.
    5. Buy some characters. The team is too quiet and doesn't lead by example.
    6. Tell the owners to stop buying potential and buy the real thing.
    7. Use his influence to get some quality players in.
    8. Sell the guff in our team, including Benteke is necessary
    9. Install a philosophy and mentality which the team understand and work in.

    Long term goals -

    - Finish 5th this season.
    - Buy some proper players and go for forth next year.
    - Go for top 4 the year after.
    - Go for title year after that

It will take potentially 5/6 years before we compete for the title.

Ultimately, put LFC back on the map again as a proper club competing in the champions league and league.
