A lot of you are saying he wasn't your pick but who would you prefer? He keeps teams up but doesn't play enjoyable football. You're currently losing games and not playing enjoyable football.
Give us a manager that plays good football then they would say he doesn't win enough games. You cant win with some people.
There was nobody available who got me excited. But that's because we're a shambles. Mute point for me really. Yann M'Vila is a joy to watch btw
Realistically there was no one out there that got me excited, but always agreed that Sam will sortb us out and probably keep us up. I've never liked his style of football tbh, but it's not much fun watching us getting turned over too easily either, or fighting relegation season after season. He gets my backing, even if he does bring the chicken dancer in, so long as he changes our trend of being fodder for other teams. To be fair, old chicken dancer might just be the influence we need in the squad.
Phil Brown is a Sunderland fan. Would be interesting to have him as No2. Two blokes who know and understand the place. Happy days hopefully
Isn't Phil Brown doing ok with Southend at the minute, they are promotion possibilities so why would he leave them and come as second fiddle for us.? Just don't think it will happen.
Big Sam is probably one of the most under estimated managers in the game. Ok, so he's never going to have a side playing tiki taka, but his reputation of playing solely industrial football is a lazy generalisation. He'll get you fit, organised and resilient. If there's anyone who can keep that squad up its him.
I'm hoping his past managerial style was based on 'pissing with the cock' he had at the time. On paper we have a decent enough squad and with the recent additions of M'Vila, Lens, Borini, Toivenon, Defoe etc, i'm hoping he can transform us into a decent team capable of playing tippy tappy football. The attacking quality is there, the defence needs serious work, if he can get the defence working then i see no reason why we can't start winning games.
That's What confused me with DA in the end, the nucleus is there to certainly stroll past The promoted teams and at least finish 12-15th. Tats the positives mate, those additions!
Fully agree mate and while i haven't been to a single game yet this season (overseas working) from what I've seen of the new lads on TV, there are plenty of positives. Get the defence right and give us some stability and confidence and we'll be fine. We won't set the league on fire for sure but we now have a squad capable of finishing mid table. We also have the January window to come, so by then Big Sam will know what he's got and what he needs and it's not beyond us to get out of this mess by a long way.
