i,Claudius wouldn't be any good for the younger generation nowadays. Dialogue based, having to pay attention. no high tech slaughters, no high speed chases.
Though Derek Jacobi has never been better than in this clip. Anyonevwho can send themselves up in a profession dominated by up themselves luvvies is deserving of admiration.

Sons of Anarchy is qute entertaining. I've also found Ray Donovan interesting.

In my day if you didn't go out & socialise you never spoke to anybody. Nowadays with mobile phones, Xboxes, the internet etc you can become friends with people you've never met & without even having left the bedroom. Preferred my day.

You're my bestie when I don't fancy leaving the bedroom. All sequinned up doing some modern jazz moves.

the television was something that couldn't even enter the minds of the people

and engines were the size of football pitches

When I was his age was 1971. You obviously don't know much about the early 1970s.

I think The Tunnel is on Sky and Canal+. Is it worth the effort of finding a source as don't have either?

I agree, hence my use of "dated". However, there was plenty of nudity, though much of the gore was implied, rather than in-yer-face. The scene where Caligula (John Hurt) ate the baby he'd ripped from his strung-up sister's womb was pretty memorable.
There was also plenty of subtle humour:
Caligula (prancing in a diaphonous frock): "I've undergone a metamorphosis."
Claudius (his nephew): "Was it p-p-p-p-painful?"
Livia (Sian Philips) also had some great lines ... "Augustus' death was the hardest on me. I was up all night putting the poison on those grapes."

It is OK. Again, it would be better if you hadn't seen the Bridge as it is not as good as that as regards the characterisation.

Currently watching Sons of Anarchy, Nashville and The Strain

    Each good for different reasons

The best, for me, was The Wire. Season 1 was fantastic.

    Other highlights
    Lost
Prison Break - season 1 only
Walking Dead + Fear The Walking Dead (started nicely)

I need to get back into Breaking Bad and also watch the last season of the Sopranos too as I cannot remember how it all ended

24 is also fantastic, but if you do watch it try to get a HD boxset version as when I'm re-watching on Sky it is quite grainy

There was a short series in the later 60's called Big Breadwinner Hog that was so violent some ITV regions banned it after a couple of episodes, ithe very first few minutes in the lead actor Peter Regan threw acid into a rivals face,

Unfortunately some football hooligans at the time thought that might have been a good idea to copy, British TV in the 60' and 70's could be brutal watching, the many cop show like the Sweeney would never be made today.

All of today's recent stuff harks back to then, but because of ratings and advert money the new ones spin out 8 or 12 episodes to 8 or 12 series and they just end up like glorified soaps.
