Other than a cocky celebration and scoring loads against us, he has only ever been professional. Has he not? Gomis has an awful celebration too.
alright, I really dont like Nolan, mainly as an ex-mag who scored against us and has an antagonising celebration to top it off. but if Nolan does come in and even if he doesn't get a game but helps SA coordinate and rally the troops, help to implement the tactics and style of play to bring the performances that'll keep us in the league then it'll be a worthwhile signing imo. at the moment cattermole and oshea are the only ones who seem to give the team any drive and keep them organised. that's hardly paying dividends to date so anything that helps is ok by me. I would ask one thing of the people who don't like him: please dont boo him if we do end up signing Nolan. I will probably act indifferent during the lineup announcments, just like I do when Coates or Fletcher are introduced, by not cheering for their name, maybe even stopping my applause. but don't turn on him before he's kicked a ball. it wont help you, him or, most importantly, the team.
Nobles' legs have gone. I mean Nolans' legs have gone which he openly admitted in a Talksport interview a while ago APPARENTLY. i could and would just about see past the mag side of him if he was actually anywhere near the top of his game but he's well past it imo...
This is where is near enough where I stand too. So what if he played for Newcastle? So what if he scored against us? He was doing a job, against their biggest rival, is not like he carried on Barton.
If I had a pound for every time someone on here says they'll end their association with the club if so and so comes in, I'd be a mill... well I'd have about £15. I couldn't stand Keane before he came to us then I soon changed my mind. There's been others - Di Canio, El Hadj Diouf for example but how do you consider giving up on supporting your team? That just doesn't compute
My neighbour said he'd give up his season ticket the year we got Poyet in. he still goes but maybe that's cos Poyet had been sacked by the time the next season started. (was that only last year? how time drags when your teams ****)
I'd have turned my back for the entirety of Harry Redknapp's reign if he was here. Not "end my association" but not follow when he's in charge - I'd also turn my back on Short and the defence of him I have put up if that happened!
I gave up my season ticket the year we appointed Wilkinson. With my work life changing I am considering getting one again but I am buggered if I am going to drive 400 miles every weekend to watch us get spanked. Take note Mr Short, start winning some games and you will start selling more season tickets.
Seems I was right about the tin hat. Seems if he signs and its a big if then he splits opinions down the middle, let's all wait and see what develops I just want it sorted out once and for all then we can move on.
Oh no... Shields Gazette says his best ever 11 has 2 ex-newcastle players in... They've had the story for 8 months but decided to print it now and make it into an Anti Sunderland thing! http://www.shieldsgazette.com/sport...ith-two-ex-newcastle-players-in-it-1-7505981? ****ing idiots!!
Agreed mate, but we all thought the same about Lee Clarke until he became a massive hit with us... ....until his 'T'' shirt trick, which we then kicked him back in the gutter...ha ha ha !
I dislike Nolan as much as the next man but if not him we need more players like him, savvy ones with experience who will be the bully, not the bullied. We need to be a bit nastier I think, I don't mean cheat, just throw our weight about a bit more.
Don't worry, by the end of Jan transfer window we'll be in 8th and not needing Nolan or any new signings
If we do appoint Sam and he manages to turn us around and push us up the league towards safety which he's got a decent record of doing then I think most Sunderland fans will be happy and all of those turning their noses up now will be happily munching away on humble pie. I know that no one is going to be overly excited at the prospect of Big Sam but the thing is there aren't any other obvious alternatives willing to come, as for Nolan I can't see him being a starter but as an option from the bench I'd rather have him than Gomez even though his legs have gone.
Nowt to worry about, mate. Stokoe brought Guthrie, Young and Moncur in from Newcastle, Dennis Smith brought in Marco from York City, Bruce brought in Cattermole from Wigan, etc. Managers have always done this.
