Insane that this thread lasted so long. But because I got my criticism of the rep system in nice and early, it means lots of Newcastle fans read it, and whilst a couple of you left positive rep (Just to prove me wrong!) With "non-abusive messages", I have also received the following:

    "Inbred ****"
    "Youre right! ****"
    "stupid mackem ****"
"Stupid cooking funt" (My personal favourite)

Whilst a lot of these are probably tongue in cheek (Because I basically did ask for it posting a criticism of the rep system and why I think it stinks), and I also think censoring has improved Rep a bit too, Rep still is a terrible representation of who is a well reasoned, well articulated poster, and who is a complete troll, as partisanship will always prevail here.

I was reading a post on RTG recently from someone who was saying that it seems as though hatred to Newcastle/Sunderland is taught in school, depending on where youre from. He cited his sister as an example, she was completely 100% not interested in football, and was 100% interested in Take That, but point blank refused to go see them at SOL "Because its in Sunderland".

Now I like a bit of friendly rivalry, and I can understand that people get worked up for the derby, but when people are harboring so much hatred because of geographical location, its actually a little upsetting.

Nah Im used to it now, no worries or hard feelings towards Newcastle fans at all, I just wanted to stress to anyone that still thinks Rep is a useful system for determining the better users on the forum, that this really isnt the case as I will get negrep for posting here simply because Im a Sunderland fan, regardless of what I post, and vice-versa for Newcastle fans on the Sunderland board, and that this unrequited hatred between some fans goes beyond this forum!

That has to be my favourite as well; being an ex-chef, I now have an urge to create a dish called 'funt'.

I've never 'hated' anyone for supporting an alternate football club. It's utterly pointless because at the end of the day would I hate someone just because they didn't like Jaffa Cakes (they'd be classified as insane but not worthy of an emotion as strong as hate).

The rep system in general works with awarding post to the better posters and WUMs et all are usually deducted points. It certainly helps me to differentiate between users and to ascertain if they are on a sly wind up or not.

Some people don't like it. That's their right though.

I don't really give two hoots about neg or positive rep as long as it's given in the spirit of fair play and awarded or deducted on the quality and intentions of the posters input.

I do think that the rep system should not be anonymous for positive or negative rep as many users will not supply the 'insults' if they know that the comment can be traced back.

    Ah. The beer-goggle-ometer in reverse.

Is it just me who thinks she's more attractive at 31 than at 28?
