I watched the first DVD on my new system last night. The director's cut of Alien. It was almost like watching it for the first time at the Odeon Leicester Square all over again. The quality of the sound added another dimension. A work of art and a masterpiece in every way.
Alien and Aliens are two of my most favourite movies. Both perfect examples of their respective genres (Sci-fi Horror and Sci-fi Action). The less said about the other movies (Aliens Cubed, Ressurrection, AvP 1 and 2 etc) the better.
Alien is a one-off, despite the follow-ups. It's in a league of its own. There had never been a film quite like that ever before. Aliens is excellent, mind
Don't know if I could pick between the two, despite being two movies from the same franchise, and a continuation of the same story, they are very different movies. If pushed, I'd say I probably enjoy watching Aliens more, purely because of the action, but it depends what mood I am in really. To think there is a subsect of morons on IMDB who argue that Alien cubed (Thats Alien³ by the way) is the best one of the series!! ****ing idiots. Is if it can even compare to the first two movies. Cubed tries to shamelessly rip off Ridley Scott's original at times, and its only saving grace is it has some great English actors in it. Even though hardly any of them get any character development, except for Charles Dance's character, who then dies 45 minutes into the film.
I used to love Aliens but was disappointed when I watched it again about a year ago, the original is the best by far and I also enjoyed 3 which brought back some of the tension and was well fimed. I agree on the character development there though.
3 I would say is okay, watchable, it only appears worse because the first two are so awesome. If it was a stand alone film it would probably be decent. I just remember being hugely disappointed after loving the first two so much. gotta say I am surprised you were disappointed with Aliens! Did you watch the Special Edition Director's Cut?, adds about a half hour to the movie, makes it much better.
Yeah I've seen it, I just thought the film hadn't stood the test of time. Used to love it and have watched it a few times.
Fancy this always been a fan of the character. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt4113712/ When his girlfriend is supposedly shot and killed, Dick Grayson quits as Robin and goes off to fight crime as Nightwing. While doing so he comes into the path of Deathstroke and has to defeat him before he kills again.
No idea who that is (I don't read the comics or previews etc) but wouldn't surprise since they'll need new characters again.
See my 2nd post, Nightwing is Dick Grayson (yes that's right "Dick") who is Robin, he leaves Batman and becomes Nightwing in the comics, quite a dark character being Batmans ward he is always going to be a bit highly strung.
He has none. Same as Batman, just fighter training and some gadgets. Making the term Superhero a misnomer, as there is nothing super about Batman or Nightwing. Superman, the Flash etc are Superheroes. Batman and Nightwing are just heroes.
There are a few without powers and they generally are quite interesting but yes the storyline for the 2 is quite similar, street justice etc.
I actually prefer that angle to the super power stuff. I think Iron Man is great because he's used his mind to gain superior powers.
Aye same as Arrow. I quite like Arrow and Batman, but The Flash/Superman/Thor/The Hulk etc would own them in a fight. Superman, The Hulk and Thor are nye on invulnerable
