Sunderland Echo have completed a survey that shows 75% of fans want Sam Allardyce. It is reported that he will only accept under certain conditions.

That comes as no surprise and will probably be the case for whoever comes in.

It will be interesting to see what they are.

Therefore if he doesn't accept the position, what can we read into that, if anything.
The question should be: who would you want as Sunderland team boss IF Sam doesn't take it?

  10. I can understand you guys not wanting him, he's a grade A twat and he used to manage Newcastle too. However, I think he'd be perfect for you. He will probably save you from the drop but if not, he'd get you straight back up, steady the ship and make you a decent mid-table side. You could then do a West Ham and **** him off or something better should the chance arise.

    Better option than Brod <laugh>

A definite yes from me, based 100% on his pragmatic approach to getting points from playing football matches.

Teams should not look forward to coming up here to play us. We are a soft touch now. That will change

I might be completely wrong, and I might get 'shot down' for this, but this is what I've been thinking :-

Sam & Alan Dyce (that's two for the price of one) would sort out our defence and 'take no nonsense' . . . . that's what he's known for :emoticon-0148-yes:

If that is the case I think that the rest of the team would benefit considerably, and be able to enjoy doing their jobs, because, as has been said before, our 'new' recruits (M'Vila, Lens, Toivonen and Fab) are 'a class above what we're used to' :emoticon-0148-yes:

If the defence is sorted, and it probably would be with Sam in charge, the aforementioned lads would do the business and 'score for fun' against most teams. That's how good the potential is :emoticon-0148-yes: and that's without consideration for other decent players like Jermain Man, Johnno, the scruffy bearded Scottish git who used to be able to score when he wanted (and could do so again if his mind was right) and Young Ginge, if given the chance :emoticon-0148-yes:

We all know that our weakest link is the defence, but I really believe that we're very close to being a very good team (not just decent) :emoticon-0148-yes:

    Who's mad :emoticon-0110-tongu

Mark my words . . . . unless I'm wrong . . . . in which case please forget everything that I said (or find a place in a corner for me with a cone shaped hat with a 'D' written on it) :emoticon-0100-smile

I agree Gordon, have been unable to understand how our defence has become so porous, I know dick changed us from mega defensive and relying on counter attacking but he couldn't find a way of tightening us up at the back. I'm not overwhelmed by having Sam Allardyce but he is bound to sort out our defensive frailities, so give us that opportunity to climb the league, on other threads I've said we would finish 15th and still think this is achievable. Just wish we could get the manager in asap so we can all move on.

I thought Sam had already turned down the Job? I read he can't do it as he's contracted to a book tour for his book.

I would have him, not my first choice but my first choices will not come so IMO he is the best of the rest. I think he will keep us up.

In the daily mirror mate? Or was it Harry Redknapp who said it?

Funny that the radio said that Mazzari had turned us down when, in reality, he's said he doesn;t want to manage us (or, the way I read it, hasn;t got the bottle for a relegation fight) - but we haven't approached him so how can he turn us down?
