I've always thought the really surprising thing was that Mr McCormack mades a passable Championship centre back
Pawel Abbott did score that great goal against Preston? Cannot remember, but I think we lost it 5 - 1 or something like that.
No, it was against Swindon in Parky's last match with us. We lost 4-2, but still Swindon were relegated just a year after losing the P/O final to Millwall.
Funny, I don't remember anything else he did. A bit like Kevin Lisbie's hat-trick against Liverpool, he's remembered for one thing. Or a certain George Hope(less). Yonks ago it was, but he scored a goal away to Portsmouth where he beat 2 defenders, rounded the goalie and slid the ball in. Or Sordell's hat-trick. Proves the saying "Every dog has its Day"
To be fair to lisbie I remember Chelsea and Ipswich away when he scored the winner in both. Two top away days. Anything else after that, then it's remembering how well he did for leyton orient. Says it all.
I've always maintained that getting rid of Parky was a mistake. He was one of our better managers since Curbs (my era), late 80s/90s. Pretty sure that there was another person before then, but I would have only been like 8/9 and wouldn't know before the 90s hit. Forgive my ignorance on that era
Could have been. I should have looked on Wikipedia. I was young and memories from that period is like looking at sun faded Polaroid pictures.
The fans must buy into the long term plan". What plan? Selling our best young players? Bringing in signings that aren't good enough for the Championship? Nego, PP, Koc,etc. Leaving our first team squad thinner than Twiggy on a diet? Why are we talking about bringing in players in January? We needed the players for the start of the season. We could be adrift in the bottom three by January. This season has turned into last season, good start then an alarming slide, then the Coach sacked. Is that part of your coherent Plan Meire? I am sorry Katrien, this fan does not buy into the long term plan.
Francis just recieved so much flak on here, Benson was our poor man's hope. Flickering fire that never was.
