As I mentioned in a previous post, DA informed Short he was leaving after the Man Utd game......some time ago now. He left the club on Sunday and we had the luxury of the international break to bed someone in for what is going to be a crucial game against WBA. A new manager could have 10 day to 2 weeks with this squad of players, looks like that is now not going to happen. At the risk of sounding uber negative...what the hell is going on with our football club? Have we literally run out of managers to appoint, at the rate we are going through them we will soon, but surely our owner MUST have had a plan when DA informed him back around the 26th September he was leaving. For me we have missed a opportunity for a new man to have a decent amount of time with his new team before we play WBA...
obviously he is sifting through the masses of applications to make sure he picks the right candidate this time. Like Gus said in a recent newspaper article, all the previous managers couldn't have been that bad???
Or, as smithy says, we have missed an opportunity for a new man to come in and be paid for doing nowt whilst the players are on international duty! Although I suppose he'd have time to work with Danny Graham and others of a similar ilk!
Maybe its just me then.....I think the club's situation is dire and the sooner someone gets a start the easier it will be for him to get his ideas across and stamp his authority on the squad. To think he can come in a few days before what is becoming a crucial game for this club and expect some kind of response from this group of players who have seen so many managers come and go by now is poor by Short and his directors. I personally expected more urgency, god knows he's had enough notice from DA and time to get something sorted.
It's obviously so easy to replace one manager with another, and Ellis has had nearly a fortnight ( yes . . . . nearly a whole ****ing fortnight) to do so What the **** has he been doing, the lazy bastard, and he (parrentlies) hasn't even tried to get Sam and Alan Dyce yet . . . . how the hell we (Charlie Farley, anyway) know that I've got nee idea, mind Recruiting a football club manager is so blinking easy, isn't it . . . . if Ellis would only try, 'cos that's obviously all that there is to it Come on, Ellis . . . . pull your finger out
It was no secret that DA was not a long term solution. It was suggested a number of times the club should bring in his successor to work with him and be ready to take over when he left. That would have been a good idea. Unfortunately, Short and the board don`t seem to do good ideas.
The group of players will most likely try harder against West Brom as they'll want to prove their worth to start with - happened with previous bosses! I just don;t think there's any point employing and paying someone thousands of pounds to come in and work with what are mainly reserves!
If you believe what you read (caveat) talks are on-going between SAFC and Sam. Sam being Sam wants a secure pot of money to spend in Jan, and wants Nolan in sooner rather than later. I live in hope for a speedy resolution
How many on here really want Sam for the football that'll be produced? Who wants him for the so called mid table finish? Season before last big Sam had west ham down the bottom for quite some time..
Morning Aussie. No idea mate. The only thing I`m confident of is that Short/the board will **** it up again. They just don`t seem to be learning from the mistakes.
What I meant, Gordon, is that we've tried lots of managers and it hasn't worked so as Sam hasn't had a go with us yet we could give him a shot. I didn't mean we hadn't tried to get him, I meant he is one of the managers we haven't had yet. It was supposed to be funny. I'll get me coat.
We don't know how many he has already tried and been turned down. There might well have been a few - not everybody is going to want this job, given the turnover. It's no good judging Short on what we don't know.
