CI slowly fading away. The few posters trying to rally round but its not looking good. AN. Just had a look on there and there's not been a post on the City thread since Monday. Yet we're going well. Why??
You've got 3/4 posters who make a real effort to post regularly and keep debates on the club going. Lambrini's O/T law allows other debate which keeps it interesting once football debates have reached their natural end. CI became the protest forum but never moved on from it. I attempted to take it over and turn it into a fanzine/debate forum with other topics and a new business plan, but the owner wasn't happy to hand over and wanted it kept doing what it was. ESSEX GULL
It's not much fun asking a question & no one answering, then googling it & replying to your own question. It was the same with Vital Hull forum, I still have the link in my favourites but hardly ever use it. Occasionally I'll see if there's anything on it, but most of the time it's just headlines from the main bit brought into the forum as a new thread!
I think this one gains from having links to other clubs boards, so there's a bit of variety and outside opinion.
I assume my old haunt HCO is still pretty moribund too? I think Facebook and Twitter have intruded somewhat, but there should still be enough traffic for two complementary forums, I'd have thought.
I like this forum best....having been a member of two others in times past...because (a) it provides interesting information and discussions on what's happening in my home town Hull apart from football, which is important to an ex-pat (b) the debates about Hull City are generally lively and interesting and keep me updated on developments at the Club...on and off the field (c) OLM is extremely knowledgeable about what's happening at the Club and in the city and I appreciate his inputs (d) the posters are a good cross-section of opinions, although I dislike (and ignore) those who engage in personal bickerings (e) I like the format of the forum, the "ignore" feature, and the ban on political discussion. This forum suits my needs and I cant envisage changing again. Thanks not606.
It's like a pub - for a couple of years, one dominates, then over time the crowd moves on to a new one, leaving a few embittered old drunks at the bar complaining about the world. ESSEX GULL
Yes I do Scamp...I've been wondering where that old reprobate has gone to. Anyone have any info on John Firth??? He used to be on all the time. Last I heard he was thinking of leaving Louisiana and moving back to Yorkshire to open a restaurant. John are you out there mate??
I don't do social media but very relieved to hear he's still around. I was worried his heavy drinking might have taken its toll. Say hi from me when you talk to him. Curious why he doesn't post on here though???
